I was so caught up with my thoughts I almost didn't notice that Luke had texted me

L: Hey sexy, want to meet up tonight ;)

S: Can you speak in non-douchebag language so that I am not repulsed when I read your texts

L: Jeez, Jeez, okayyy. Do you want to sneak out tonight and hang out for a little bit? Im kind of nervous about the test tomorrow and I need someone to talk to.

S: Yea im down. I feeling pretty nervous too tbh :/

L: Okay bet, see you in 10 min at our spot.

S: Okay Lukey

L: If

L: You

L: Ever

L: Call

L: Me

L: Lukey

L: Again

L: I

L: Will

L: Destroy

L: You

S: Ok Lukey see you in 10 byeeeee

I turned my phone on silent right before Luke started spamming me calling me a prissy bitch. We joke around like that a lot but we both don't mean anything we say to each other. I don't bother changing and I step out onto my balcony and climb over the edge. Luckily my balcony is right next to large vines that grow up the side of my house so I can climb down using the crocheted pattern board that they grow on. My backyard leads into this dense forest where about half a mile in there is this beautiful meadow of light blue flowers. That is mine and Lukes spot. Nobody knows about it besides us. I feel someone grab onto my waist and pull me into a hug from behind. I can tell by the smell of musk with a hint of vanilla that its Luke. "Hi Lukey" I say with a huge grin on my face.

Luke quickly turns around and gently pushes me against a large oak tree with his hands just a few inches away from my shoulders. He leans in closely and whispers, "never ever fucking call me Lukey ever again."

I throw my arms around his shoulders and interlace my fingers behind his neck. "Ok, Lukeyyyy" I say as I shake my head teasingly.

He let out a deep chuckle and pulled me in for a proper hug. " Im so scared princess" he whispers into my hair. Luke is the only person allowed to call me princess, he created the nickname when we were little kids and it just stuck.

"I know Luke, I am too" I whisper into his chest. "I am too"

We both sit down leaning into each other. "I dont want to stay in Erudite Luke." I blurt out" I immediately feel his body tense beside me.

"Sash..." he lets out

"I know what you're going to say Luke, I know that I have to stay here because of my parents and my families reputation and my strong ties with Erudite, but I really don't want to. I try to imagine my life and what it would be like if I stayed here. White lab coat everyday, monotonous routine every day, no freedom. I wouldn't be happy! I would hate it! You know what happens to those who chose the wrong faction!" I immediately freeze realizing what I had said. "Oh Luke im so sorry"

Lukes older sister Macie was born Erudite and she chose Candor at her choosing ceremony. She told Luke the night before she chose that she got Erudite on her test but she just chose Candor for some unknown reason. When family day came around for those who transferred to Candor and Lukes family didn't get an invitation, they knew she had become factionless. The test is advertised ad more of a suggestion. You are allowed to chose a faction that is different from the one you matched with on the test, however those who do choose differently always end up factionless.

I reached for his hand. "I'm really sorry Luke I wasnt thinking". I said apologetically as I held his hand close to my heart.

"It's okay princess, I know what you mean." He said with a small smile. "Before your rude ass interrupted me before, I was going to say that I think you should follow your heart. You have the biggest most beautiful heart I know and it would be a damn shame to ignore it. Trust the test Sasha, take it as yourself, not as the person your parents want you to be, follow your own instincts, not the ones your parents have told you to follow. You are so strong and so brave and so beautiful" he whispers softly as he runs his thumb over my knuckles. "No matter what your test result is, no matter where you end up, I know you will do great things there. There is absolutely no doubt about that."

I lift my head up and look into his eyes. His piercing emerald green eyes stared back down at me. "I love you Lukey" I whisper.

"I love you too princess," he says as he wraps his arm around me pulling me closer towards him as I rest my head on his chest.

"Why are you nervous about the test Luke? I thought you are so sure you are going to get Erudite." I ask curiously

Luke sighs. "I honestly don't know Sash. Part of me wants to stay here, but part of me just doesn't feel at home here at the same time." He chuckles and looks down at me. "It's not a big deal though, I'm just going to follow you to whichever faction you choose."

I giggle in response "wow! do I have my very own stalker?! Seriously though Luke, trust the test, hopefully, it will help give us both a clear understanding of where we are meant to be. And if you're still unsure, just follow your heart, deep down we both know where we are meant to be, I just don't think we realize it yet." My eyes start to weigh down on me as exhaustion hits me like a ton of bricks. "I think we should head back Luke, im about the pass out and the sun is going to rise in a few hours."

He looks at his watch and nods. "You're right Sash, i'll see you tomorrow morning and we can walk to the test together."

I smirk at him, "how about we drive instead?" He smirks at me and I wink back as we both walk away from each other and back to our houses. I really hope Luke and I end up in the same faction, I cant imagine my life without him in it.
