"I'm like 75% certain this won't explode on us" I admitted.

"I blame Madison"  Adrianna added.

"Oh come on, it's not her entirely all her fault..." sympathized Danielle, her eyes widening as she shrinks back slowly.

"You're too nice for your own good Dani" exclaimed Zoey, clearly annoyed, "do you remember when sh-"

Abruptly cut off by Madison, she moaned "Ok we get it! It was an accident, this was meant to be fun! Be patient"

All of us waited, tense and agitated, time seemed to have slowed down as we held our breaths.
For the love of God, what did we get ourselves into.

2 hours before

Blowing my hair out of my face for the umpteenth time, I scrubbed the couch harder. Why won't this stupid coffee stain move, I thought angrily, letting out an exasperated sigh.
See this is what happens when you decide to stay up late perfecting an essay. That essay....

If you don't get a good...no, amazing grade on that essay Maliya, that chocolate sundae you promised yourself won't be eate-

But I put so much effort into it! It can't possibly be less than 'amazing'....a wisful sigh slipped out of my lips, I thought dreamily about the chocolatey goodness submerged into creamy heaven, my mouth salivating a bit.

You sure about that? you did stupidly fall asleep....therefore not checking over it for the 3rd time. You should've chec-

Stop telling me how to live my life!

I'm your conscience. That's my one job.

I sighed once again. If I don't get this stain removed Aunt Faye is not going to be happy.
I mean she already has a lot on her plate with her demanding job and her tiresome boss, throw in a love life with her (annoying) boyfriend in the mix and voilá! the busiest person on earth.
She doesn't have time to be stressing over a careless niece who can't even look after herself for God's sake.
Being a business executive of a huge company is not easy, you're responsible for running government agencies- creating plans to help their organizations grow, working long hellish hours.

10 out of 10 times Aunt Faye comes home at crazy hours of the night exhausted, only to have to wake up early in the morning before I even see her.
I've understood from a young age that I'm the one who has the responsibility of cleaning the house, cooking for myself and keeping my grades up to scratch- basically in other words 'amazing' grades.

Giving up on the stain, I keep in mind to clean it later.

Unlocking my phone, a thought dawned upon me that Senior year was starting in less than a week, the days of the summer holidays were sadly coming to an end. Hmmm, I wonder if anything interesting would happen this year...

A shrill sound of my phone interrupted my thoughts-

Incoming call: Dani ♡ (Danielle)

The screen filled with her face.
Dani isn't beautiful in the classical way, no flowing golden curls or ivory skin; no piercing eyes of green. She was shorter than average and certainly not the thin-stick catwalk model, but in her ordinariness she was absolutely stunning.
Something radiated from within that made her something else.
She had a kind of understated beauty, perhaps it was because she was so disarmingly unaware of her prettiness. She can be a shy girl, always pushing her glasses up, which magnified her ocean-colored eyes. Whenever anyone would talk to her, she'd begin to twirl her mousy brown hair and stutter her answer. However much her faults affected her social skills, she was a truly bright young woman--the school knew she was brilliant as she was always top of her class.
