If only

Chapter 2

I woke up to the sweet smell of pancakes, I slowly got up, as I did I felt pain rush through my body the same way blood does in your veins. I didn't sleep considering that my parents told me they have a huge announcement today, I assumed it would be about my health because when has it never been about my situation to be honest. I was heading to the bathroom when all of a sudden I saw something on the floor , it was a box with a note from my parents saying :

Dear Georgie,
We have left to get something but for the mean time we want you to take a look at yourself in this small mirror that used to belong to you're grandma, she told us that when she dies she wants you to have it.

I was so confused why would I want to look at myself when I know what I look like? However I did as I was told, when I saw my reflection I noticed that my hair is growing back, my hair is growing back. I don't know what came over me but I suddenly started crying tears of happiness while jumping on my bed. I called the first person I could think of jenny.

" hello,"she answered," Georgie is there something wrong?"
" no, no everything is far from wrong, my hair is growing back can you believe that Jen?"
" what? Oh my god I'm so happy for you, that definitely means that we should meet up sometime."
It feels so good to finally listen to her voice the last time I saw her was two months ago since her health has gotten worse.
" yeh definitely wouldn't want to miss another second without you," I said grinning," so see you next time Jen."
"Yeh." And with that the phone closed.

After an hour my parents arrived, I was waiting for them while leaning on the kitchen counter. For once the talk wasn't about my health but more about my education, they wanted me to go to school since it was my final year but I refused. The unfortunate thing about this is it wasn't my choice I had to go whether I like it or not because they want to see me graduate. Apparently me graduating from school and throwing my hate in the air has always been their dream, so I thought why not? It can't be that bad right?

" mum dad it's settled I am goin to school for senior year and I will make you proud by making your wish come true," I said with full confidence. Before I knew it my family engulfed me in one of their infamous hugs. It was times like this that got me to go through life, to wake up every morning and try my best to kick cancer, to survive it, to prove to the world that cancer will never affect me and it never did. I do try to let it not affect me but how can I when I lost everything because of it. The worst thing is one of my biggest inspirations in life has left, left me all shattered from the inside, my grandma was a person who I didn't have to complain anything to, who I didn't have to explain what I felt to, because she could simply see it from my face. She gave me the best advice anyone could have given me, I didn't let my memories of us laughing and talking all night while watching marathons die and go with her, I treasured them like it was my heart that kept my entire body alive.I guess that's why I built walls when she died because I didn't want to show pain, I didn't want to be seen as a vulnerable person.
