I was having yet another late night. School had given me a ton of homework, which is fan freaking tastic. I looked down at my watch. 3:00. I started the homework at 10:45 ish so that means I've been working on it for way too long.
Since I live five minutes away from the local Starbucks, I decided to go get a coffee to help keep me awake. Typically I would say forget it and leave the homework undone, but finals are next week and I really need to study. High school is so much fun.
I throw on a black sweatshirt over my Pusheen t-shirt and put on my worn out converse. My pajama pants are light blue and have little llamas on them. I don't bother trying to cover up my hair (which is currently royal blue for tired) and just walk out the front door. I don't bother leaving a note for my parents. They won't wake up.
It's cold outside, but what did I expect because it's literally the middle of December. I shiver and walk faster. When I walk inside of the Starbucks, I see a worker that looks half dead and another teenage girl that I don't recognize. The workers hair is also royal blue and the girls is black. Black hair means depressed.
I order my coffee (a peppermint mocha with extra whipped cream) and go sit by myself. If I was smart I would have brought some work with me so I could stay in the nice warm shop instead of having to face the bitter coldness of outside. I really do need to go back and get my work done, so I decide to bring my coffee with me.
The boy from earlier popped into my head for the first time since the morning. I'd almost forgotten about him. I WANT to forget about him. He was rude, temperamental, and obviously not my kind of person.
I finally get my coffee and start to walk out the door. Then, I look back at the girl with black hair. She's gathering her stuff. I make a split second decision and walk over to her. "Hey! What's your name?" She looks at me. "Avery. What's yours?" Avery is actually pretty nice. I wasn't expecting that. "Ingrid. Ingrid Fraire." "That's a cool name." She even giggled a bit. Avery's hair was no longer fully black. Now, it was yellow for happiness with just a couple of black streaks.
I looked down at my watch. 3:34. "It's 3:34!" I exclaimed. "I really need to go back to my house and finish my schoolwork. I've got finals next week." Avery nodded. "Of course. Times like that make me glad my mom decided to home school me. It was nice to meet you." "Yea! Maybe we'll see each other again!" She nodded. "That sounds good." We said good night and then went out separate ways.
Avery was actually really nice. She totally makes up for that boy I met earlier. I hope I get to see her again. I reach my house and fumble around in my sweatshirt pocket for my key. I can't find it, but maybe it's because I'm only using one hand. I can't find it, and there's not an extra hidden outside. I can't knock on the door because my parents are asleep. Great. I'm locked out.
There's nowhere for me to go, because all my friends live like thirty minutes away. I guess I can always go back to the Starbucks. Maybe I dropped my key there. I'm sure my hair is now a deep orange colour from annoyance with a couple streaks of royal blue. I trudged back to the shop and I walked inside. My annoyance is probably written all over my face. My day keeps improving. The boy from earlier is in here. "Great." I murmur to myself.
He turned around at the sound of the door opening. His facial expression changed from one of laughing and happiness to one that was very clearly annoyed. His lips curled up in disgust. "What are you doing here?" I'm tired of this boy. He doesn't own the world, so why should he act like it? I decide to tell him as much. "In case if you haven't noticed, MATE, this coffee shop is open to the public so that means I can come in here if I want. It's not your own personal building so if you have a problem with me being here you can GET OVER IT AND LEAVE!" I started yelling towards the end of my rant. His hair is fire truck red and his mouth is set in a firm line. He's scaring me.
The boy walked towards me and grabbed my arm. "Come with me." He said this calmly and started dragging me towards the front door. "Let me go!" I start kicking at him and scratching at his arms with my nails. Where is the worker? How can she be letting this happen?
He whipped me out the front door and pulled me into an alley beside the building. Oh Lord. What is he going to do to me? He pushed me against the wall, none to gently might I add. His face was very close to mine. He actually has a pleasant face. The eyes that I thought were green are actually sky blue, a small narrow nose, and thin lips. His hair is no longer fire truck red. It's neon green now. Curiosity? Why?
He let go of me. "Sorry about that." And with that he walked away, not even looking back. WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED? "HEY NO! COME BACK! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK ITS ACCEPTABLE TO DRAG ME AROUND A BUILDING AND THEN JUST WALK AWAY?" I chased after him, but he'd already left. Now that the excitement was dying down, I noticed it was snowing. I started shivering.
Ughhhh. I just wanted to make a new friend and then I ended up getting manhandled and drug behind a building. What is happening?
