°Hermione's POV°

I walked down the hall, my hands clenched into fists, my steps echoing through the hallway.

As I walked towards the girls lavatories, I spotted Lavender Brown who was running late for class.

She stopped when she saw me. She looked at me a little strangely, staring me up and down. I tilted my head slightly or the side at her. She glanced around, no one else was with us in the hallway.

She walked closer to me and stopped when she was right beside me.

"Ah, Hermione, I don't mean to be rude or anything, but your skirt is a little short. Shorter than everyone else's. You'll need to buy a new one as soon as you can." She whispered, pity in her voice.

I can feel my face flushing as I glance down. It was above my knees, not that far down on my thigh. I compared it to Lavender's. Yes, it's much shorter.

The thought dawned on me. At this length, when I sat down you could see....

"Oh no!" I mumbled, feeling embarrass i hadn't realized myself sooner. Laevnder patted my shoulder in comfort before running off.

Sure, me and Laevnder didn't get along at all, but I would have told her the same if this was her sitiation. Girl code. Rivalries aside when it comes to something like this.

Now I have to buy a new skirt! I'm so embaressed. Has everyone else noticed? Why didn't Ginny tell me, surely she must have seen it? I could swear the one I had bought in advance for my 7th year (But obviously not used) would work for this year. But yet, I was wrong.

I hurried off quickly to the bathrooms.

When I got there, was my concerns were pushed aside as I heard silent sobs. I first assumed it was Moaning Myrtle.... But this isn't her bathroom? That's downstairs.....

"Hello....?" I called out hesitantly.

I opended one of the unlocked stalls to see a surprising sight.

There was a girl my age. She had whitish blonde hair that bled down into a creamy brown colour, it looked clean and perfect. It layed down flatly in nice waves that went to the center of her back, the front was held back out of her face with a golden butterfly clip. Her skin wasn't too pale but still light and she had a single freckle by her right eye. Her eyes were a shiny pale green.

She was crying.

She had mascara running down her face from crying and her eyes were puffy from previous tears. The tears still seemed to glisten on her perfectly clear skin. Her lips were semi-plump and had a natural pink coloured lip gloss on. She wore the hogwarts uniform, only not all of it. She wore the white collared shirt that wasn't buttoned up right and the skirt (her's was the right size unlike mine), and stripped green stalkings (they were both diffrent lengths) with black flats. She also had a Slytherin tie that wasn't tied and just hung around her shoulders. She was missing the part that goes over the shirt and technically wore the wrong stalkings. Everyone else had black or white ones.

The girl, was Astoria GreenGrass.

"Astoria? Are you alright?" I asked. I had never really spoken to her, so I didn't have an official opinion in her but I've observed that she does hang out with Malfoy a lot.

"Y-Yes. It's just.... M-My boyfriend broke up with me for some RavenClaw girl." She said, wiping a tear from her face. She had pretty pale pink and gold painted nails.

"I know it's..... It's stupid, but really I thought he was the one." She said.

"I know how you feel." I said. I truly do. I put a hand on her shoulder and she didn't move away do I assumed that the action was alright.
