// as soon as yoongi's phone buzzed with the text from taehyung he was overwhelmed. partially with excitement and partially with anxiety. yoongi was borderline obsessed with the gas station boy, so as soon as he found out taehyung wasn't feeling well he was on his way out the door, carrying a bottle of cough medicine and a box of allergy pills. just because he didn't know what was wrong with taehyung didn't mean he wouldn't try to fix it.
yoongi was making his way toward the gas station as quickly as he possibly could. he was high, but not nearly as high as he usually was. although taehyung didn't seem to mind the others smoking habit yoongi felt a strange need to impress him. its not like yoongi felt bad about smoking, but there was something about the gas station that seemed so pure and he didn't want to corrupt that. the only reason he had never gone to the gas station sober was because he was nervous. yoongi seemed like someone who would be confident, maybe even narcissistic. there was no doubt that he was attractive, and he was talented too, but he just couldn't force himself to believe it. thats why when his friends started smoking yoongi did too. it made him feel great, like he was the best person in the world. he got addicted to the feeling and never stopped smoking, even though most of his friends had stopped a long time ago.
the light of the gas station sign made yoongi snap back into reality. he crossed the street and approached the door, trying to prepare himself for a conversation with taehyung. he wished he would have smoked just a little more, this would be a lot easier. he pushed open the door and immediately locked eyes with taehyung.
"yoongi?" taehyung said, looking more surprised than yoongi had ever seen him. "whats wrong?" yoongi's feelings were hurt. it seemed like taehyung did want him to be there. his face must have displayed his pain, because the cashier instantly started mumbling apologies. "nothing is wrong. i just didn't expect to see you here tonight." yoongi went from hurt to confused in a matter of seconds. "i texted you and told you i was coming." taehyung's face turned a bright shade of red and he turned away from the black haired boy. "oh, i must have missed it." yoongi's expression softened and he told taehyung not to worry about it. when taehyung finally stopped feeling guilty he told yoongi to sit down and went to grab another stool from the back.
when taehyung returned with the other stool yoongi offered him the medicine he brought along. taehyung happily accepted it and yoongi could have sworn he saw the other man blush. they sat and talked for a while about whatever crossed their minds. at one point a customer came in and yoongi didn't even bother to move from his place behind the cash register. the man who entered the gas station was clearly a truck driver who was just passing through, all he bought was an energy drink and gas. the man gave yoongi a strange looking, probably wondering why there was another person behind the register that clearly not supposed to be there. he didn't say anything and left, leaving the men alone together again.
once he left they resumed their conversation until taehyung mentioned that his shift was almost over. he told yoongi that he should probably head home and he would text him later. yoongi stood up and collected the things he brought with him. "before i leave i'd like to ask you something if that's alright." taehyung nodded, silently telling yoongi to continue. "first, are you feeling better now tae?" taehyung nodded again, the nickname making a blush creep onto his cheeks. yoongi smiled at the other man, feeling a warmth swell in his chest. "one more thing, would you maybe like to hang out sometime? you know, somewhere other than the gas station?" tae couldn't help but laugh when yoongi asked, the question came out shaky and he could tell how nervous the black haired man was. "i don't know yoongi. meeting here at three in the morning has been pretty good, hasn't it?" as soon as the sentece left taehyung's mouth he saw yoongi's smile drop. the weed he had smoked earlier was still clouding his thoughts, so tae's sarcasm went right over his head. "it was a joke yoongi, i'd love to hang out sometime." taehyung said to yoongi, making sure the other man knew what he meant. yoongi felt his cheeks burning a bright red color when he realized taehyung was joking. he walked towards the door and pushed it open, turning back to taehyung before he left. "i'm looking forward to it taetae."
taehyung watched yoongi walk until he was out of sight and then he sat down behind the cash register, waiting for the person who was working the next shift to show up. he couldn't get rid of the smile on his face as he thought about everything that had happened that night. he had no idea that yoongi couldn't drop his smile either. when the next employee showed up taehyung walked home and thought about yoongi the whole way. he crawled into bed and began to fall asleep wondering if yoongi would smell like weed when they hung out like he had all the other times they had been together. before he drifted off to sleep taehyung decided that he didn't care if yoongi smelled like every drug in the world, as long as they were together. //
