I have had a lot of requests for how to do a long distance CGL relationship. I will start by saying that it can be difficult and its not for everyone. It takes effort and commitment for it to work.
First thing to think about is time differences, if you're within a couple hours it isn't much of an issue but for large time differences it can become a bigger problem. Try to coordinate times where you can call/facetime. It helps to have a routine so that communication stays consistent. Text each other through the day, caregivers can text reminders about their little taking care of themselves, asking about their day, and checking in. Littles can send pictures of drawings, their outfits, they can ask about their caregivers day and tell them about their day.
You can also send each other care packages. Some ideas for care packages for littles are: stuffies, coloring books, little gear, their favorite snacks, crafts that they can do together long distance, clothes that smell like them, and pictures. Some ideas for care packages for caregivers are: letters, crafts, pictures, snacks, anything that would make their caregiver happy.
Spend time together even if you're physically apart. You can do a craft together on a video call, play games together, watch movies or read together. Anything you can do to spend time in littlespace together is important for keeping that bond.
Open communication is key!!! If you begin feeling neglected, ignored, or that your relationship has changed talk to each other. Its normal for there to be changes in relationships but massive shifts can mean something is wrong.
