Chapter 6

The next day Emery slept in. When she woke up she was slightly relieved and more than slightly disappointed that Scar had not barged into her house. She checked her phone after she got out of the shower and got dressed. She had two messages. One from Desirae:

Hey baby, I was thinking about you and I miss you <3

And one from Scar:

Last night was fun! You wanna come over later and maybe NOT watch a movie? ;)

Emery texted Desirae back first and eventually the conversation got back to Desirae’s day and complaints. Emery felt really guilty about what had happened, because she still loved Desirae. But she felt like she was almost out growing her. Desirae was always better in person because she gave great comfort, but when they could only talk she couldn’t talk about anything but herself. So Emery texted Scar back.

Sounds fun, pick me up after 7?

Emery didn’t see anything wrong with hanging out with Scar, especially if this was just physical. Because wasn’t that what this was? Just a physical release until Scar found a new make out buddy? Emery didn’t truly believe that Scar was using her, but she told herself that to keep her guilt at a reasonable level. They were not dating, Emery thought.

I’ll see you then,

Scar was excited to hang out with Emery tonight. She assumed that Emery was going to be fresh off of dumping Des so she told herself to calm down. Emery might just want to watch a movie tonight. Scar had never thought that Emery would dump Des for her but now she was almost sure of it. Emery couldn’t just ignore what had happened last night, and she wasn’t the kind of person to have two relationships. They were so dating, Scar thought.

At a quarter after seven Scar pulled into Emery’s drive way. Emery got into the truck moments later. The stereo was blaring something that Emery didn’t know, but it sounded familiar.

“Gone Forever by Three Days Grace, all their songs kinda sound the same but I like them,” Scar said as she pulled out of the driveway. Emery nodded and lost herself in the music. Her thoughts were racing. Why was she so nervous? Oh that’s right, because she is in a truck with the person she used to cheat on her girlfriend. The rest of the drive was coupled with a slightly uncomfortable silence, at least it was uncomfortable for Emery, but Scar was too busy thinking of Emery to notice.

When they got to Scar’s house they went straight to the living room in the basement and Scar turned on the TV.

“A Sci-fi movie, why?” Emery whined.

“I like Sci-fi, now just shut up and sit down for Christ’s sake. You’re standing there in the doorway like I’m a serial killer. I won’t bite that hard.” Scar winked as she sat on the couch and motioned for Emery to sit beside her. Emery came and sat leaving a little space between them. Emery realized that she was just making it awkward in her head. She relaxed at the movie went on. Halfway through they were lying down so Scar had he arm on Emery’s hip. Scar rested her head on her other hand. Scar leaned down and kissed Emery. She moved down Emery’s jaw line and down her neck. Emery shuddered with pleasure and suddenly felt guilty, but she couldn’t bring herself to stop it. Scar’s hands felt so good on her hips, moving up her sides. As Scar rested her hands on Emery’s chest alarm bells went off in Emery’s head.

“Scar,” she mumbled and felt Scar smile against her neck, “No Scar stop,” she spoke more clearly. Scar froze and then moved her hands away.

“What’s wrong?”

“I can’t do that,” Emery said and Scar nodded knowingly. Scar moved in to kiss Emery, “Scar stop.
