It was finally time to clock out, originally you were only meant to work a few hours today but this morning your boss called and he asked if you could open up the shop because he had an emergency with his wife and kids. Struggling to leave your warm bed you eventually made it to the coffee shop you worked at and began to open up, hours later it was now early evening and you started to close things up knowing it usually became vacant by six. As you were about to head to the front door to lock up, a tall, broad man walked in the door, he was quiet and when he noticed the place was seemingly deserted and he glanced at you.

"Are you still open? Sorry for rushing in it's just freezing outside and the snow is getting thicker by the minute." he lightly spilled from his mouth. Your eyes scanned him a little too long before quickly realizing such and clearing your throat,
"Yeah we are actually, we close up in about 10 so you can sit and enjoy what you get for a little before hurrying back into the cold." You laughed slightly hoping the brown eyes would linger around the front a bit more, wishing that he would chat you up a bit before he left. You knew it was wrong, but you urged to know more about him, he was so tall you wondered which side of the family it was from, but your fiance wouldn't approve, although you were sure that he may have chatted up a few girls if he wanted to so maybe this wasn't so bad after all. You gave him his order, and his hands delicately grazed against yours and an instant shock enthralled your body, sending a shiver down your spine.

    "Oh I'm sorry, I di-"
"It's ok, it happens all the time, customers are usually eager to grab their coffee it's understandable." It wasn't though, people who grabbed their coffee usually waited until it was placed on the counter in front of them, or if they were going to grab it they grabbed it from the top to ensure that they wouldn't accidentally touch hands, but his met yours and it was something that you couldn't get out of your head.

Soon after he grabbed his coffee he headed out, much to your benefit too as the snow began to fall a bit heavier and you didn't really want to be stuck at the shop for too much longer in worry you couldn't leave. When you got home your fiance happily approached you, a smile pulling at the corners of his lips as he grabbed your hand leading you to the couch for your daily routine of watching a show to wind down. Today you both sat in silence as Gilmore Girl repeats played on the screen in front of you, bringing up thoughts of what earlier ensued. All your mind could think of was the touch of his hand, it was so soft but rough, seems to contradict itself but it was so perfectly balanced that when it was questioned, it fit just right. Somehow you awoke mid-morning and all that was thought of was his soft brown eyes and those large calloused hands, yearning for more you wondered if he would once again come into the shop for more coffee.
Two days passed and he hadn't been back, but alas it was a Tuesday evening and once again you were about to close up shop when you heard heavy footsteps come from the front. Walking around the corner you notice him and a smile slides across your face, a familiar feeling in your lower tummy quickly ignored.
"I'll have a Caramel Mocha please,"
"Of course, um..." a slight pause as you realized you didn't know his name, but he quickly caught up to your fault and stated: "Bill, it's an older name but I've been told it suits me." He chuckled, a sound you wanted to hear again.
" Well, I guess then we are both there, my name's Y/N"
"Wow, unique."
"Bad thing?"
"No, just different, not that different is bad but you know different is different and it's nice to have dif-"
"Different's good, that's what my mom used to say," You noticed him rambling, not sure if it was something he normally did, or if you had caused it but the thought of you causing it made you blush slightly.
"Your Mom must have been a smart woman because she's right," He nervously laughed. You didn't know what it was about him but he just seemed so interesting and you craved to know more, and as he continued to nervously talk and stutter you felt the need to know.
"I'm not sure I would say such, but I could tell you she knew how to make a killer mocha, she taught me how to make these, so if it's not good it's on me tonight." You placed the lid on top of the cup and gracefully handed it to Bill, hoping he would love it as you added more caramel than the normal recipe calls for thinking he may enjoy it.
"If you join me at the table I can tell you what I really think of it," He slyly stated a smirk forming at the corner of his mouth, you willingly complied knowing that the only thing waiting for you was to watch a rerun of some old show with the man you were due to marry in roughly three weeks.
You both sat in the booth for a total of four hours, not once feeling awkward or hesitant. There was a pure bliss feeling while you sat with him, something always made you either want to know more about him or made you curious as to why he did things and you never did stop to ask and he always had a full explanation for every single question you had. It was going smoothly, you felt giddy as if it was the first date until a tone fell through the air, a phone call.     Your fiancé was calling, him probably wondering where you were since you usually stuck to your schedule, but tonight was different. Bill and you glanced at your phone and you quickly picked it up hoping he didn't see the name you had for him as it was clearly written "fiance" with a ring next to it. You regrettably picked it up, he yelled about why you were late and how you should've told him, you tried to counterpart but he wouldn't let you, so you just hung up. When the phone hit the table your hand reached for the coffee set in front of you, but you noticed the other cup was no longer there, Bill was now standing next to the booth. Worryingly you stood as well, asking what was wrong.
"What's wrong? Are you kidding me? I thought that this was a mini-date, no I didn't ask it directly but you accepted and it was going pretty great but you know you picked up the phone to your fiance. Why didn't you tell after I asked if you were seeing someone?"
"I just didn't feel like it was the right time Bill, firstly we have only known each other for a few days but it feels like forever and I didn't want to ruin it so please Bill. There's something I have with you in the few days I have known you that I've never had with him, something good, we can't lose it."
"Then we won't,"
He quickly grasped the sides of your face and kissed you harshly, your cheeks cupped in his hands seemed to relax and your lips melded together, but he pulled away all too soon.
"Until you fix whatever this situation is I can't see you Y/N, you know this won't work for me as a secret behind him, you're going to be wed to this man and cheating isn't something that is right even if it's for the right reason, I want to get to know you but not until that's over." With that, he just walked out.

It was about two months later and you had yet to see Bill since, but your wedding was pushed back a few months as you both realized that financially it would be better. Your coffee shop had grown quite a bit in the two months as well, you've begun a small bakery in it, as cooking was a peaceful way you were able to pass time, you were finishing up a cake when you heard the door open. You stood in shock, but you were soon awakened from it when you saw his finger, now with a ring.
"Hey, um, can i- uh- can I get a wedding cake?" Bill nervously stated similar to the way you both first met months ago.
"Oh sure, um may I get your names?" slyly stating hoping that he wouldn't recognize you so the pain wasn't shown. A small sigh emitted from the man behind the counter,
"You know my name, and it's also with my fiance, Chloe"
Grabbing an undecorated cake from the freezer you spelled out his name and his partners in light red icing, and as you began to put it in a box you shyly hid a paper inside the box top for Bill to be able to find. Leaving your number on the paper and handing it to him, he gave you more money than what was the cost of the cake, although he told you to keep it, you insisted on letting him have the rest even offering it to be on the house. To no avail he didn't accept your offer, you looked deeply into his chestnut eyes, hoping they would find a way out but he looked as if he was in a spiral of darkness unable to leave.

It was a day later, and you were on your short walk back to the apartment, your shift had ended early so walking in the chilly weather seemed a nice change from the usual gloomy nights that you normally left in. The gravel seemed coarse as with every step your foot dug deeper into the ground, the snow pushing under the sides of your shoe, relentlessly making it harder and harder for you to walk; instead of focusing on the people near you, you've been focusing on the ground trying your best not to slip. That was until the snow got thicker and the slight wetness atop it didn't go well with your converse and you tripped, and it wasn't a 'trip in a school hallway and my teen heartthrob will catch me' it was more of a 'scatter every item in and on you around the entire street for all people to see' type of fall.
"You know when you said you were clumsy I didn't quite believe you to that extent."  came a throaty chuckle, and as you glanced up your cheeks flushed with embarrassment as the actions that just occurred sunk in and you realized you fell quite dramatically.
"I'm so sorry it was the snow, I mean maybe ice, I'm not one hundred percent I mean, I usually don't leave this early so being around the not as hard snow an-"
"Y/N, it's fine, I just wanted to see if you were okay, take a breather, in and out."
"Oh, it's you. I'm not disappointed it's just I haven't seen you since the coffee shop and then you left and then you came back but then you were engaged and I still am too but it's just all this and I can't really handle it all right now." you slurred your words so fast you weren't even sure you could understand what you just said, and yet he still stood there, contemplating. The look on his face created a bubbling pit of anxiety within you, but then he looked in your eyes, and lightly caressed your hand bringing it up to hold his, creating the goosebumps like you got the first time it happened, and he mumbled a lighthearted phrase, "'Would you like to go get a coffee and sit down for a few hours and you know talk about how we both messed up and need to fix it all with each other"
