The game just progressed as the two girls sat on the bleachers.
Marina gave the occasional yell and cheer and, once in a while, a tired sigh. She must spend a lot of energy watching a game to end so exhausted.
Delancey, on the other hand, just looked on like an observant hawk. No cheers, or yells, or comments, nothing.
Time marched on as the two teams still battled mercilessly to get the ball on the net, until at a point, the game just got tense. They were tied 1-1. A goal from Kane (in which Marina howled and almost deafened Delancey) and the other one from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
From what Delancey heard, he was a good player.
The uproar in the bleachers quieted down for some bit to tense conversations and stiffened comments, and the occasional whistle and jeer.
Even Delancey sat on the edge of her seat. Marina was chewing on her nails.
"What happens if they lose?" Delancey asked Marina.
Without even looking at her, the brunette answered nervously, "Tottenham loses Premier League points, which means not being close to winning the cup."
Delancey absorbed all the information.

"Oh no...?"

"It is important!"

"I know it is, chill out, muffin bite."

"I AM chill."

Delancey gave a soft chortle and kept on watching the game with some sort of uneasiness on the bottom of her stomach.

********

The game still went on, until Kane scored another magnificent goal.
Marina howled loudly. Delancey felt some sort of relief.
But why? She disliked football so much.
The redhead scrunched up her nose and shook her head.
The referee announced the end of the match and Spurs fans went wild, especially Marina.
Delancey couldn't help but cheer as well.
Arsenal fans were bummed out, obviously. Marina grabbed Delancey's hand as soon as the stadium started emptying out and led her down to the pitch.
Marina's expression radiated light and joy while Delancey was just confused. Why go down? The match had ended, what was the point?
The moment Delancey's red Converse stepped on the dewy grass, she felt even smaller, still staring at the immense stadium. She scoffed ever so slightly.
Marina darted across the field to get an autograph. Behind Delancey, she could hear the rumbling of a stampede of Spurs fans.
The redhead's eyes widened and ran just behind Marina, and reached a small group of the players.
Most of them were very tall, and naturally muscular and athletic.
There was this guy in particular that most people wanted to get a selfie, an autograph or a picture with.

Harry Kane, the Superstar.

Delancey eyed him up and down.
The man had blue eyes, a long nose, a shady stubble a sharp complexion, and a gentle expression.
He was also fairly tall and portrayed a cheerful smile.

The man of the match.

Delancey, for no reason whatsoever, snorted and folded her arms as she let the stampede run past her to get to him.
After the very last of them had passed her, she noticed Marina hadn't run past her.
She quickly scanned her surroundings, looking for her friend.
Marina was right behind her, looking kind of afraid. Delancey sighed, knowing well that her friend's most dominant trait, her shyness, started acting up. Delancey at times considered it annoying.

"What's up? Why didn't you go get an autograph?" Delancey queried, taking a step towards a nervous Marina.
"I—" she began, her voice shaking.
Delancey knew exactly what was going on and sighed, snatching the pen and picture of Kane Marina held on her trembling hand.

Delancey shoved past the annoying fanboys and girls.
"Move, ragamuffins." She growled softly, so that they wouldn't hear.
The moment she reached the football player, he looked even taller. He was busy giving out autographs. She gulped. Oddly, she was nervous.
"Hey. Mister Kane." She said, somewhat firmly.
The football player didn't even look at her.
Her nervousness vanished and was replaced with annoyance.
"HEY." She said loudly, approaching the man, and extending her hand to give him the pen and the picture.
Harry turned to Delancey, his gentle eyes sparkling. His gentleness surprised Delancey.

She pursed her lips and opened her mouth to speak, but Harry just gave a jolly laugh and patted her head like a little kid and turned to the other fans to pose, as they were taking pictures of him.
Delancey felt anger bubbling up inside her, but naturally she wasn't an angry person. Unlike Summer, her other friend, who in fact was angry 24/7, Delancey did not like comparing herself to rage-fueled Summer.
However, the football star made her angry in a way.
"You arrogant bastard." She snarled, directing her nose at Harry, who interrupted his photo session to look bewildered at the redhead.
Delancey shoved the photo and the pen to his hands and folded her arms.
Harry, after a minute of bewilderment, smiled kindly and signed the picture and handed it back to Delancey.
Delancey's cheeks flushed a shade of pink. Maybe he wasn't a selfish man.
Time seemed to slow down as she stared right through his eyes.
Harry seemed to have a naturally kind expression and grinned at her again.
"There you go." He said.
He had a very deep voice.
Delancey's eyes widened and without thanking him, she turned around and walked quickly towards Marina.
The moment she stepped away, a wave of fans clustered around Harry.
Delancey looked back, let out a huff, and kept on walking.
"Did you ge— Oh my God, you look angry." Marina said, eyeing Delancey.
The redhead shoved Marina's signed picture.
"Let's go." She grunted, taking Marina's hand.
The brunette tilted her head to a side but followed Delancey wordlessly.

When the two girls reached the car, Marina sighed and looked at Delancey.
"What's wrong?" she queried, concerned that her friend didn't have a good time.
Delancey turned furiously to Marina.
"How can you like him? He's literally a show off and a massive twat." She snarled.

"Hey! Language!" Marina scolded.

"Sorry. But honestly? How can you stan him? He's not even that... exceptional."

"You don't have all the facts."

"Which are?"

"I love him."

"This is ridiculous. Let's get going."

Marina started the car and drove off to drop Delancey off on her apartment.
Before Delancey got off, Marina turned off the car completely and turned to the redhead.
"Did you at least have fun?" She asked, a hint of sadness in her voice.
Delancey's tired expression forced a grin.
"Yeah. It was a fun experience." She affirmed, patting Marina's shoulder.

"Thank you for coming, Del. It means a lot." Marina whispered. She closed the car door and drove off without giving Delancey the chance to reply.
