The day had been long and tiresome for Beca, and she was beginning to become annoyed. She didn't think that all of these 'trust exercises' and random songs were going to help her team beat their opposition - DSM. Personally, she thought it was a waste of time, but she didn't want to tell anyone that, especially Chloe.

She knew how much the Bellas meant to her girlfriend. She knew that as soon as she met Chloe for the first time when she auditioned. She could see how much Chloe enjoyed the camp that Aubrey had set up for the girls, so she didn't say anything. The last thing she wanted to do was upset her girlfriend by exploding into a fit of rage.

The night came, and Beca was squished into a small tent with the rest of the Bellas. She was cranky and short-tempered since she absolutely did NOT want to be camping - she just wanted to go home. Chloe, however, encouraged Beca and she couldn't say no to the woman she loved.

What added to Beca's annoyance was the fact that she wasn't able to sleep next to her girlfriend that night. No, Beca wasn't a cuddler, she was far from it, but with Chloe it was different. Beca was like a whole different person with Chloe. She wasn't afraid to touch, kiss, cuddle, or show any other form of intimacy with the beautiful redhead. She was in love and she didn't care who saw, even though she knew being affectionate would compromise her 'badass' persona.

Chloe rolled onto her side to face Beca, who was upside down since she slept on the opposite side of the tent, putting their heads right next to each other.

"What are we doing here?" Beca snapped.

"We're bonding. You're so tense. Does my munchkin need a back rub?" Chloe extended her hand to whisk away a loose strand of hair that was sliding down Beca's forehead, but Beca agitatedly nudged Chloe's hand out the way, allowing her hair to be put back into place.

"Several body parts are rubbing my back right now, thank you." Beca retorted.

"What about a kiss?"

Beca froze. She had been so uptight all day she forgot what it felt like to relax until Chloe asked that. Beca still wondered how someone could tear down her 'protection' walls so quickly, but she eventually came to the conclusion that Chloe was her kryptonite and left it at that.

"Chlo, I want to go home." Beca repeated.

"We haven't even started."

"We don't need to. You and I both know that I'm not an outdoors person. I want to go home, change into my PJ's, snuggle in bed, and watch Netflix."

"I do, too, but we'll come out better and stronger on the other side."

"Hmph," Beca huffed with an eye roll.

"What's up, babe?" Chloe asked.

"I just told you - I want to go home."

"No, there's something else. You've been acting different lately."

Chloe noticed how Beca would usually space out from time to time. She noticed how Beca's tone would change from calm and collected to short and tense. Beca was irritable more than usual, and it wasn't the kind of cute irritable that Chloe adored. Beca was actually angry and Chloe wanted to get to the bottom of it.

She kept asking Beca but the brunette just came up with excuse after excuse, but no matter what, she was always tense. A few days before the retreat, Chloe had tried to make Beca feel better by having some fun in the bedroom, but Beca wasn't interested. That was another sign that whatever had been bothering Beca was something big. Beca would never turn down making love to her girlfriend, and Chloe knew that as a fact.

"It's nothing, Chlo." Beca sighed. "I just want to go home."

"Bec..."

"Goodnight." Beca planted a soft kiss on the redhead's lips before rolling over and going to sleep.
