Honest Mistake

This is kind of a sequel to my last Oneshot, Hogwarts, and is dedicated to @Kjmonkey for planting the idea of doing one in my head. I got the idea from a Harry/Draco gifset on Tumblr, which I will link to in an external link so you can see the whole thing.

"Hey Niall, can I ask you something?" A boy sitting across the table from Niall and Harry asked suddenly, not five minutes after Niall had sat down. He'd been slightly late to lunch, having spent his free period just before in a deserted bathroom with Liam. Lately their relationship had become rather physical, much to the chagrin of their friends, who didn't appreciate the near constant touching and kissing.

"Sure, what's up?" Niall replied, turning away from Harry, who was sitting next to him, talking about the advantages of muggle stationary, to face his fellow Hufflepuff. His name was Henry or something like that, and he was looking mildly confused as he examined Niall enquiringly.

"Why are you wearing a Gryffindor tie?" Henry questioned innocently, gesturing vaguely at the tie around Niall's neck. Glancing down quickly, Niall saw that yes, he was wearing a red and gold Gryffindor tie as apposed to the yellow and black he usually wore.

"Well, fuck." Niall sighed heavily, before he scrambled up from where he sat and started towards the Gryffindor table, only to knock into Liam, his boyfriend of the last five months and the reason his tie was wrong.

"Hey! Can I talk to you for a minute?" Liam asked, his voice too bright and the hand around his neck obviously trying to hide the Hufflepuff tie that was peaking out from between his fingers. He'd never been very good at covert and even ran right into a teacher the last time he'd attempted to help Louis and Zayn with one of their pranks.

"Yes." Niall immediately replied, before grabbing Liam's free hand and dragging him in the direction of the nearest bathroom. He could almost swear that he heard Louis laughing boisterously from across the Great Hall and wondered if he had anything to do with this.

"I can't believe we didn't notice we'd switched ties!" Liam groaned as he took his own tie from Niall, who was trying to think of a spell Louis could have used to make them see colours wrong momentarily. He'd have to ask Zayn about that one. Although he doubted he'd get an answer since, if it had been Louis, Zayn was probably in on it.

"I can't believe Harry didn't tell me the second I sat down. I bet Louis and Zayn did something and made Harry promise not to say anything." Niall replied, scowling darkly as he tried to come up with a revenge plot. Maybe if he was sly enough he could get Zayn to side with them and help, then double cross him for his own involvement.

"Probably. But knowing that's not gonna help us. We're up against evil masterminds here." Liam exclaimed, glaring down at his tie in a way that suggested he probably just used a spell to fix it usually.

"You mean Evil and The Mastermind. And they can easily get Harry to side with them." Niall grumbled, rolling his eyes and taking the ends of Liam's tie from his fingers. By the look in his eyes, he may have been saving the tie from destruction rather than saving Liam from trying to figure it out, which had been his intention.

"So no revenge plots then?" Liam murmured quietly, grinning widely as he firmly planted himself within Niall's personal space. Glancing up, Niall rolled his eyes before allowing his hands to glide along Liam's chest to link together at the back of his neck.

"Not yet, but I will have one. And I'll execute it in, like, ten years. They'll never see it coming." He replied matter-of-factly, pressing closer to Liam with a grin of his own and ignoring the tie that he'd only half fixed before becoming distracted.

"You'll still be upset about this in ten years?" Liam asked with a laugh, rapping his arms around Niall's waist and kissing him quickly, only to be slapped lightly on the shoulder.

"Of course I will! I can hold a grudge!" Niall replied indignantly, but, all the same, cuddled up to Liam and allowed him to continue pressing little kisses all over his face and neck.

"I'm sure you can." Liam mumbled against the side of Niall's neck, pressing one more quick kiss to his skin before pulling away just far enough to look at him. "You wanna sit with me at the Gryffindor table for the rest of lunch?"

Humming quietly in ascent, Niall rocked up onto his toes to press a kiss to Liam's mouth, mumbling agreeably when, instead of pulling away after a second, Liam pushed him gently against the wall of the cubicle they were still in and deepened the kiss.

"OK, that's enough of that. I actually want to eat before we have to go back to class and if you keep doing that thing with your tongue we'll be here all lunch break." Niall gasped, pulling away from Liam abruptly, only for him to start nibbling his ear affectionately.

"I don't have a problem with that." He whispered huskily just before the door to the bathroom banged open and they sprang as far apart as the cubicle walls would allow.

"......probably snogging in one of the cubicles." Louis was saying as he and Zayn walked in, rolling his eyes when he was proven right by Niall and Liam, who tumbled out of their hiding spot, with messy hair and Liam's tie still undone.

"I think you might be right." Zayn sighed sarcastically, just as Harry came running into the room, only just catching himself on the wall as he stumbled over his own feet. Pulling his wand out and waving it lazily, Zayn fixed Liam's tie before he began dragging Louis from the bathroom, stopping briefly to call out; "Lunch is over in ten minutes, you might want to hurry this along. Come on, Harry."

Laughing to himself, Harry waved jauntily before spinning on his heel and skipping after the other two, who were bickering quietly. They only stopped to laugh loudly at a first year, who stared bemusedly at the odd combination of blue, green and yellow. Apparently this year the new students exercised a good deal of house rivalry and still didn't understand the easy camaraderie between the five seventh years.

"Come on, then. If we stay here any longer, they'll just slag us the rest of the day." Niall laughed, threading his fingers snugly between Liam's and following after their three friends who waited for them at the door to the Great Hall. Instead of splitting and going their separate ways, all five of them sat at the Gryffindor table, ignoring the strange looks they received from their classmates every time they decided to all sit together at one house table.
