".... Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah had ordained for us..."
(Surah At-Taubah)
Chapter 28
"Apiii" I woke up to the annoying voice of the most annoying person. I ignored it and continued my sleep.
I felt some cold water was streaming down my face.
"YOU" I got up from bed annoying. But she had luck as she ran away fast.
I got up and sat down yawning as I stretched my hands and legs. The sun rays had made designs on my bedroom floor. But the chirping of birds was replaced by the noise of the city.
And it indicated me that 'yes, here you are. Back in your city.'
I walked to the bathroom and washed my face. The cold water gave freshness to my face. I brushed my teeth and smiled showing all my teeth which had become a habit. This was why we call some habits in childhood stays with us till death.
I headed to the kitchen where I saw mama was in final preparation of the breakfast. I stood at the door and watched her, smiling. She turned to me and handed a cup of shirin aunt's famous sulaimani, with a beautiful smile which was new always.
I walked into the backyard and sat down in the swing. I had a sip of tea, slowly swinging.
"Huma, tea" my enjoyment of tea was interrupted by papa. Papa will be probably in the living room waiting for mama's tea to read newspaper. After leaving them here and going back to grandparents house, I missed them a lot. I left here a year ago leaving behind many things in this city. Dad's daily Phd of newspaper with tea, chit chats with mamma, fighting over things with Fara and playing with and getting bullied by Fardeen, Hangouts with Shama and Rizwi, Hassan's twinzee, Shirin aunt's lectures, Café and
may be Sain too.
"Fareen" my thoughts were interrupted by papa.
"yes papa" I said widening my eyes with a smile, getting out of my thought world.
"eating sugar?" he said. Oh so papa was in an awesome mood.
"no papa" I laughed.
"telling lies?" he said acting serious.
"no papa" I gave him a fake frightened look.
"open your mouth" he said and I opened my mouth.
"hahaha" he said and we laughed.
"I missed this." I said and soon mom joined us in our laughing club.
The best happiness was to see our parents happy. Ya Allah, please bless my family happiness like this forever.
"Rinna, you are not applying for any job?"
"Yes dad, I'm applying. But I can't go for work until shama's wedding is over"
"Okay then we can do your wedding soon, and then you can go for job peacefully."
"No" I said making a face.
"Dear how long we can extend this engagement? It's not good." mom complained.
"Mama, it was just one month before. It's not too long. And I'm not interested in this topic. Please. I'm leaving." I said getting up from the swing and walked away fast.
I walked so fast that I don't want to hear them call for me to discuss this topic. The topic I never like to think about even. Everything was changed, also my life. All the happiness from my life was taken away. After the accident, nothing felt the same. Hassan was not still the same Hassan. He was quiet and smiled less. I didn't know why or it was because of my guilt, but my relation with Hassan also became awkward. All the chit chat and knock jokes between the friends were decreased.
