Pain and anguish engulfed her body
As she fell to her knees
Her best friend swung from the rope
Like a wind charm
Blowing in the breeze.
Shaking and trembling
She crawled to where the note lay
Unfolding the crumpled paper
She wanted to know why
Why did he leave her that day?
The note was well written
The letters neat and in between the lines
This was not a spur of the moment decision
This had been planned
He had wanted this for a long time.
Sharp intake of breath
Mumbled words out loud
Words of apology and guilt
He didn't want to hurt her
Wanted to make her proud.
Anger coursed through her veins
How could he do this to her
She screamed at his cold body
Hours and hours later
Her voice barely a whisper.
She stood and stumbled to where his body hung
Wrapped her arms around his icy skin
Before picking up the razor blade
Gliding it down her arm
Skin cut, paper thin.
Dazed and confused
She fell at his feet
Smiling up at him
She wasn't afraid
For in Heaven they would meet.
