Nicks POV

Today: Sophomore Year

Just like everyday, Brandon would be at my cheerleading practice, but not on Tuesdays, his practice is the same time as my practice, so I was practicing my base when I looked up and saw him sitting down, he looks like he had been crying. I put down the girl I had in the air and walk to the coach, "um, is it okay if I go check on my friend up there. He might be crying."

"Yeah sure, you got 10 minutes," she smiled, understanding I ran up and sat next to him.

"Hey what are you doing here? It's Tuesday, don't you have prac-" I was cut off by him hugging me tight, he was crying, his fears one of my shirt, "what's wrong?"

"It's the other football players... They're making fun of me..." I'm the only one that knows he's gay, and everyone else starting to get a hint. I rub my friends back, comforting him. I heard the football players laugh from across the football field I started to get mad.

"Rosie! Can you come here please?" I yelled, and one of the cheerleaders came up. Gassiest

"Yeah?" She asked.

"Could you stay here with Brandon and comfort him?"

Brandon looked at me, "Where are you going?"

"Who is making fun of you? Who started?" I asked, standing up.

"Andrew R-" that was all I needed to know, I started to walk down the stairs at the football players, "Nick!" Brandon said, but Rosie Stopped him from following me.

Andrew smirked, "oh look, faggot boy sent his cheerleading boyfriend to defend for hi-" I cut him off by punching him in the face and he fell to the ground.

"DON'T YOU DARE CALL MY BEST FRIEND A FAGGOT! AND I'M NOT HIS BOYFRIEND!" I yelled in his face and walked back to Brandon, the other football players holding Andrew back. I got to him and sat back down, " Thanks Rosie."

"Yep, no problem, I hope you feel better Brandon," she said smiling "Thanks," Brandon said and she walked away. "What was that?"

"I punched him in the face because he called you a faggot, I just walked over there to talk to him but when he said that, I couldn't stop myself," I said, hugging him again.

"Nick! Times up!" Coach yelled up to us and Brandon sat up straight.

"Go, I'll stay here," he smiled.

"Okay, and then I'm driving you home," Brandon nodded and I went back down to continuing practicing.
