Violet De La Cruz stared at her desk as her social studies teacher rambled about something she wouldn't remember for the quiz. She was too busy thinking about how she just found out that her and her rival, Lexi Blossom, were cousins. Their families have hated each other as long as she could remember, so naturally Violet and Lexi were set out to loathe each other too. Dharma looked up only to see Lexi staring right at her. She couldn't tell if Lexi was mad or confused. The bell rang and Lexi blinked and looked away. As Lexi walked out of the classroom she thought about why their families had kept it a secret for so long. If Monty and Cheryl hadn't dated would they even know now? So many thoughts were rushing through her brain but were interrupted as she opened her locker and an envelope fell out. She slowly opened it and saw a small cardboard mask inside. Behind it was a note. It said "You are invited to Riverdale High's Masquerade Ball!" Her eyes wandered around the room and saw that everyone else had one too. She saw Violet was opening hers. As Violet read the invitation she thought that finally something happy and exciting happening and they aren't all thinking about the death of her cousin. Just as she closed her locker her boyfriend, Sweet Pea put his hands on her shoulders and said "Excited for this dance?" "Ugh yes its about time something fun happens." Violet replied with an eye roll. As they walked away Reggie Mantel, captain of the varsity football team and boyfriend of Lexi Blossom glared at Sweet Pea and Violet and said "How could anyone in their right mind date one of those serpents?" But Lexi wasn't listening, she was thinking about what she would wear to the dance. It was the first dance of the year, and the first after Jason died. She wondered if Cheryl would be there, Jasons twin sister. Killer's pov: But would it really matter what she wore? She was going to get blood on it anyways.
