I really need to fucking sleep.
Honestly.
I imagine sleep so much it feels more like a mem-

John Pov
"You know what I'm looking forward to once we get out of this hellhole?" I asked Alex.

He looked up and said,
"What?"

"We'll actually be allowed to go outside." I said.

"We can go outside now..?"
He trailed off.

"Yeah but it's not the same. There will be open fields and birds and I havent seen so much as a pigeon in a year."
I said.

He thought about this for a second and nodded.

"You like birds?"
He asked.

I nodded.
"I mean I don't like love them or whatever, but they're pretty easy to paint."

He finished his orange juice and then proceeded to ask,
"On a scale from one to ten, how mad would you be if I threw this cup at you?"

"Ten."
I said, narrowing my eyes.

And guess what the little bastard decided to do. Throw the damn cup at me.

I caught it and threw it back it him.
The cup hit him straight between his eyes and he didn't look pleased.

"Well ow." He muttered, rubbing his head.

"I told you I'd be upset if you threw the cup at me. You should've listened."
I told him, eating my toast.

He sighed.
"I have a tendency not to listen to people. You know this." He said.

"Yeah? You better get good at listening then." I replied.

"It's not like you are good at doing as people say either." He muttered.

"How the hell did you even manage in the army?" I asked, putting down my toast.

"I listen when I have to.  And I never said I never got in trouble at the army." He said.

"You know, I always wanted to join the Army. Especially after I read that one book..uh..I forget what it was called..you know the one.." I trailed off.

"Do you know the name of the author?" He asked.

I smiled.
"Yeah, yeah. The one guy..Thomas-"

"Jefferson? Barton? Hickey? Lee? Paine?" He asked.

"Paine," I said.
"Oh..uh..Common Sense.
Yeah I read that too." He said.

"Then why don't you have any common sense?" I asked jokingly.

He shrugged.
"Guess I didn't learn anything."

I snickered.

"What are you two dipshits laughing bout?" Jared asked, sitting next to Alex.

Oh dear lord..
his face is a bit...
well...
It doesn't look good.

He sighed and hissed,
"Thomas told me you two assholes told him that I thought-"

"That he's a francophile and you want to be French so he'll look at your ass? Yeah.
We know.
We were there."
I finished.

I saw pure hatred flash in his eyes.
He lunged across the table at me.

I grabbed his arm and slammed it on the table. He yelped and pulled away, running off.

"That was good." Alex said.
"Thanks." I replied.

He looked at me confused.
"No..
no, I mean my toast.
That was some good toast,"
He said, a smile creeping on his face.

"Oh you asshole." I breathed, smiling despite the insult.

He scoffed, also grinning.

"Hey..um..so I wanted to ask when do you guys think we're gonna be escapin'?" Charles asked quietly, slinking next to me.

"Few days. There won't be any cell check in the next month so we could do it at any time, really." Alex answered.

"How do you know?" Charles asked. Alex and I made short eye contact.

"We know." I said.

Charles nodded.
I swear, after the fight I had with Charles he holds me with some sort of respect.

I can't say I feel the same but I don't hate him like I used to.
He's smart from time to time.
Though I must say, those times are rare.

"We do need to get the sheets and stuff together." Alex said as Charles walked away.

"Yeah, I've got Herc on that." I said. "Really? Do you know how he's doin with it?" Alex asked.

"Don't know. But it should be fine. Hercs pretty good when you tell him to do shit. I trust him." I said.

Even though he's a fuckin asshole from time to time.

Alex nodded.

I scanned over the prisoners in the building. A few were arm wrestling. Others chatted amongst themselves.

"What's the point of arm wrestling?" Alex asked.

"Proving your strength I guess.
Prove you're...
a man?
That makes no fucking sense.
I don't know.
Seems pretty stupid,"
I said.

"Yeah."
Alex muttered.

"Wanna arm wrestle?"
"Sure."
