Third POV

The two white-haired women stared at one another. One had a shimmer of glee, and the other was red with rage. The mother of Alexandra began to walk backwards, as she cackled about the white-haired boys' death. Once the old white-haired woman was two feet in front of her army of rogues, the true battle began. With a snap of her fingers, her rogues were off.

The fighters and warriors shifted into wolf form as soon as the rogues ran off. The two Alpha's joined into the battle, ripping and shredding the rogues like they were nothing. The two white-haired women stood stuck in their spots, waiting for the right moment. They knew this battle would ultimately be down to them two. Neither would want any help from another wolf, they knew they had to fight one-on-one in order to prove themselves. This was the Warzone way.

Alex scanned the area, catching a murky brown wolf clamping its sharp canines into one of her warriors. He was distracted with another rogue, and couldn't see the murky one coming. Her eyes then moved to the west side. She found an Auburn wolf that looked like it was on steroids; that was Butch. One of her best warriors, the one who was mated to the small, innocent girl. His hulking wolf ripped the legs off of two rogues, causing his fur to be painted in red. He then began to zigzag through the trees, his wolf taking full control, ripping through rogues fiercely and quickly.

Blood and guts flew around Alex, and yet she still had not joined in on the fight. She stood in the middle with the white-haired woman, sizing each other up. Alex never let the screams of the warriors or fighters interrupt her concentration. Her job was to take on her mother. The woman who gave birth to her, and almost killed her. Alex had many emotions towards her mother, but the one that stood out was her hatred. Hate filled her entire being as the hundreds of memories passed through her mind: pictures of her dead best friend, her brothers' dead body, the countless days she spent with no food.

Alex lifted her left foot, then her right, and then her left again. It was now or never. The white-haired woman smirked as she saw her daughter approach her. She had been waiting for this for many years. As soon as Alex stood in front of her mother, fists and kicks were being thrown at each other. The two women were equally matched when it came to strength and speed, but not skill.

Alex managed to get a jab to the white-haired woman's throat, causing her to momentarily lose her breath. Alex used this as an advantage to throw a punch to her head, but the white-haired woman was able to miss the punch, barely.

The two women continued to scratch, bite, and jab, neither making much damage. They were both trained well. It showed in how they fought so aggressively in their human forms, but were only covered in some scratches; nothing major. Alex fought with her anger, while her mother fought with a vengeance. No real progress was being made until her mother unsheathed a dagger in her left hand. Once Alex saw the silver shine in the sunlight, she too revealed a dagger. Like mother, like daughter.

The commotion of cries and pleas filled the air as the two woman slashed at each other, trying to drive the dagger into each others hearts. Alex wanted to carve out her mothers heart, to see physical proof the cold witch even had one. Her mother wanted her daughters heart, so it could be on display in a glass. Once she killed her daughter, she would take out the elders and rule the wolf world. She wanted the Warzone's to be the most feared, and most powerful again. Alex has to be dead in order for her plan to work.

Dirt covered Alexandra's face, her body covered in sweat. She lands a kick to her mothers gut, causing her to stumble back. Her mother retaliates with a slash to her cheek.

Suddenly, the sound of Rush's cry rang. Alex was able to keep the death cries at bay, but not her mate's. She turns her head slightly, only to find her mate with three claw marks on his side. He was on the floor, as a rogue approached him. Alex watched the scene unfold before her. Her wolf cried to go and help her mate, but her mind told her killing Jane, her mother, was more important. Jane's death would not only save Alex and her pack, but it would save all packs around the world.

The Warzone pack could not exist again.

Alex stayed planted in her spot, unable to look away at the upcoming death of her mate. The rogue leaped from its spot, aiming for Rush, only to be killed instantly. Rush acted quickly, chewing the rogues throat out as it leaped into the air. A sigh of released escaped Alex when she notices almost all the rogues are dead. Her sight moves back to her mother. She was seconds away from driving the dagger though her heart. Alex acted fast,  putting her dagger up, aiming for her mothers heart as well.

The two white-haired woman clashed. Alex watched as the thick, red blood spewed from the woman who birthed her. Jane began to cough eradically, panic etched onto her face, knowing she was about to die. Jane looks at her daughter one last time,

"The demons child, and the demon. Together again."

Jane closed her eyes, and let death take her away. Alex looked across the field towards Rush, mouthing 'I love you', then fell to her knees. The dagger was struck in the same place as her mother. However, her blood didn't spew, it gently flowed down like a red river. Rush came running to his mate's side, holding her close, breathing in her sweet lavender scent. Alex holds her mates face in her hands,

"Your safe, " she smiled with her bloody teeth.

The eye contact between the two didnt falter, not even after her heart stopped beating.

The battle was won.

When Alex held Rush before she died, only one thought had come to her. 'A warrior chooses to be a warrior, knowing they could die.'

In that moment, Alex remembered that she too, was a warrior.
