Chapter 2 - Life Writing Exercise: The Fan Meetup

You all are in for a real treat. To practice my writing, I have an exercise where I write events that happened in my own life in third person. This is the first one.

Azazel sat down at the table, and the fan meetup began.

"H-hello everybody! Im Azazel Wilson.. well you already know that.." She stuttered, already getting anxiety over the amount of people there. "I.. Um.. Thank you for coming..." Azazel muttered this part, making it barely audible for the croud, especially in the back. An awkward silence filled the room for a couple seconds as Azazel looked down at the table, hunching over more and slowly shrinking down. She stared at a small drawing on the table somebody must have made while trying to think of something to say.

"Um-"

"Hello there everybody!" Ash said as he stood up, grabbed his friends hand and pulled her up. "This is Azazel Wilson, the amazing author youre all here to meet." He patted her shoulder and her face turned a bright pink similar to the color of her pajamas.

Azazel raised her hand a bit and waved, still kind of hunched over.

"Youre probably wondering who I am. Im Azazels friend Ashton. Im just here to support Azazel, so do your best to ignore me and act like I'm not here." He sat down and gestured to Azazel, mouthing Take it away!

"Hi there.. Um.. Ok no more awkwardness lets just get this going. Everybody, if you could please make a line that would be great. And any pictures you want taken with me if you want them we can get, although id really prefer not to. When you get up here we can chat all you want, although there is a surprising amount of you here and I dont want to leave anybody dissapointed so if you want to talk for a long time please come to me after ive gotten through everybody. You can buy your own copy of any of my books over there.." Azazel pointed to a shelf packed with books, hard cover and paperback with varying prices to the right of the table. "And once you get your book signed or you just meet me, dont leave because I have a special announcement at the end of this whole thing."

Sitting down again, people slowly started forming a line, and mkaing their way forwards to the table.

The first person in the line was a teenage girl, looking like she was about 16 years old, and giggling with excitement. She wore a heavy navy blue sweater, with curly red locks bouncing onto her shoulders as she walked up. She looked like every stereotype popular highschool girl ever.

"Hi there Ms. Wilson! I love your books so much!!" She said. "Im Jenna by the way."

"Hello Jenna. Thank you for coming, it means a lot to me." Azazel said, puslling a sharpie out of her pocket as Jenna pushed her book over. "Is there anything specific you would like me to write or..?"

"Just your name is fine. And also, Id like to say thank you."

"Hm? For what?" Azazel wondered.

"Not putting any of the... You know.. Dirty stuff into your books. My parents would never let me read them then." Jenna whispered this, starting to blush more as she said it.

"Well, I wouldnt be comfortable with putting that in anyway. It wont appear in any of my future books."\

"Thats good. oh, and by the way," Jenna leaned in so that nobody else could hear what she said next. "Youve got quite the piece of meat there. How long have you been together?" She said, gesturing to Ash and grinning. Ash saw her do this and shot her a smile and wave.

"Oh, we arent together.." Azazel responded, getting more and more uncofortable wit this by the second. "We're just friends."

Jenna moved on, and even purchased two of Azazels books. The line moved on. A couple people asked about her pajamas and why she was late, but the topic was mostly left alone, filling Azazel with relief. The only person who asked for a picture was some hamburger (A/N You know. American dudes. Meatheads. thats how azazel sees it anyway) who was very openly flirting with her ("Ay girl is your Momma from space? Cause you got the stars in your eyes."), and thinking more with what was between his legs more than what was in his skull. She decided to test him and ask him with a trivia question about one of the books he had with him, and concluded that he had probably never even read it before. I feel like if you read it youd know the name of the main character. Azazel thought as he left, rolling her eyes.. Asshole. He didnt stay for long afterwards because he was starting to get some serious glares from Ashton, who isnt exactly in bad shape.

Once everybody had a chance to get their book signed, Azazel stood up to announce her up coming book. It got good reactions, and she was obviously surprised at the amount of support that she got. And then, almost as suddenly as it began, it was over. It lasted for a whole two hours, but it only felt like ten minutes. People started filing out, and Ashton needed to use the restroom, so Azazel walked over to the Starbucks and ordered herself a coffee and a croissant. As it was being made, she pulled her pocket notebook out of her purse and wrote it down in one of her life writing exercises. Suddenly her name was called, so she snapped the notebook shut to go and get her drink.

Snapping my notebook shut, I pulled myself out of my seat to go and get my coffee.
