Dominique
"Daijon?" I looked at him confused, "What are you doing here?"
"I was in the neighborhood so I thought I should stop by." He tells me. "Really? You thought you would stop by?" I didn't believe him.
"Yes, and your brother told me to check in on you." I knew he didn't decide to come by for the fun of it. "Well I'm not really in the mood for company, so thanks for stopping."
I try to close the door but he stops it, "C'mon Dom, we could hang out like we use to."
"Daij-"
"I brought food." He lifts up a bag. "What is it?" Call me picky, but I wasn't gonna let him in if he brought in some trash ass food.
"Asada fries with rice and no sour cream." I open the door a little wider, "Did you get the green sauce?"
"Yup, I even asked for extra." I open the door to let him in, "You know me so well." He grabbed the remote, and turned on the tv,"Were you just in here all day sitting in silence?" He asked as he turned on the tv.
"No I went to the gym, took a shower, Melo came by, then you came," If you're in a house all by yourself and don't have any type of background noise on, you're weird.
"Why didn't Melo stay?" I got my food, and sat next him on the floor. I let out a sigh, "He was being stupid."
"You know you can talk to me right?" Daijon looked at me, "I mean I know we weren't as close as we use to be, but I'm always here."
"Thanks Daij." I smile, "Basically Melo came over with the plans of getting me pregnant again." He mouth fell open, "Really? How'd you find out?"
"I told him I wasn't ready to have sex, and he was 'it's okay, I'll have you pregnant by the end of the year.' "
"And what did you say?"
"I told him loved how he was ready to have a baby, but I don't want one." I think back to our conversation, "I also told him that I didn't want to be a teen mom again, and I wanted to go play basketball for UCLA."
"I thought you didn't want to play basketball anymore?" He asked. "I did too, but working out helped me take my mind off the baby, and I realized that I didn't know what I would do without basketball."
"So I'm guessing he didn't take that very well." I shake my head, "Not at all, he starting going off, and being hella outta pocket." I left it at that, because I didn't want Daijon or anyone else to know everything that happened.
"I'm sorry Dom, but if there's one thing about you and Melo, it's that y'all can get through anything."
"Thanks." I smiled, "But enough of that, what made you decide to come to my house on Fourth of July?"
"Your brother told me to check in on you." He looked down, and I knew he was lying. "Other than that." I questioned.
"I told you, I was in the neighborhood." I rolled my eyes, "Daijon you live around the block, you're always in the neighborhood."
"Okay fine I'll tell you." He laughed, "You know how Snapchat shows you memories of last year?"
"Yeah?" I didn't get where he was going with this."Well today they showed me my story from the barbecue Lavar and them had."
I finally caught on, "Thats when you asked me to be your girlfriend." All the memories of that day began to flood my head.
"The stars are so pretty."It was a clear, hot July night."But they don't even come close to you." Don looks at me licking his lips.
