Dominique
"Finally," Mo panted, "we're finished." She collapsed on the grass in our front yard. "It wasn't even that bad." I sat down next to her.
"That's easy for you to say, you've been dieting and working out for like a month."
"I barely started my diet this weekend." I shook my head at how dramatic she was. "Why did you start that anyways?"
"I just wanted to." I shrugged, "I wanted to get my body to how it was before, especially since I'm going off to UCLA."
"You 'bout to be snatching all the grown men over there." She sticks her tongue out.
"I'm still with LaMelo remember." She sucks her teeth, "Girl let that boy go."
"I can't break up with him."
"Um why can't you? I know y'all have been through hell and back, but that does not give him an excuse to treat you the way he does."
"He doesn't treat me-"
"Let me stop you right there Dom, because I already know what you're going to say." She cuts me off, "LaMelo has disrespected you so many times and I don't know why you let him keep doing it. How many times are you going to let him run to Ashley before you finally see it as a problem."
"I do see it as a problem."
"Then why don't you say something, and I mean actually say something and not throw shade on instagram."
"I don't want to upset him, because if I do, the same thing will keep happening over and over again."
Mo shakes her head, "If you see that there's a cycle going on, then why don't you break it?"
"Because I don't want to lose him, I love him. He's the first boy I was ever serious about, we've traveled together, he even gave me a son. Who can possibly replace him?"
"Dom I know it's hard to let go of your first love, but are you even happy with him?"
"Of course I am, last summer was probably the best summer I ever had, and that's all because of him." I recount of all the things Melo and I have done.
"That was the past," She tells me, "when was the last time you felt truly happy with Melo?"
"When he came back to Lithuania."
"You were happy to see him, but were you happy to be with him?"
"Of course I was happy to be with him, sure we had a few problems, but that doesn't mean anything."
"What do you mean it doesn't mean anything? How do two people take a break to work out their problems, just for those problems to arise when y'all get back together."
She was right, everything she was saying was the truth, and I hated it. Right when Melo came back, we were fighting over things we said we put in the past.
"LaMelo has treated me bad, but I've done the same to him. Despite are arguing, and drama, I don't know what I would do without him. I can see myself spending my whole life with him. I know I shouldn't, I know we don't have a healthy relationship, but we can fix that."
"Dom it's great that you see the problems, and want to fix them, but a relationship is two people. You may want things to work out, but if Melo isn't making that effort..."
"You're right," I mumbled, "but I still love him."
Sorry this is so short, I was stuck and wanted to update for y'all 😬
