That girl
The Date
------------------------------
I shot my head up to see if this former schoolmate of mine had arrived yet but he hadn't. "He probably saw my photo and reconsidered coming," I thought flipping another page of The BookThief.
"Hey stranger," Someone greeted and I instantly looked up to meet gorgeous emerald eyes. My lashes must have flapped awkwardly; thank goodness I was wearing tainted spectacles.
"Hello to you too stranger." I answered letting go of our interlocked palms, mine seemed coarse against his soft warm one.
"Should I order something?" He asked.
"You're late and you're trying to over compensate." I said out rightly glancing at his startled face, I believe he didn't expect me to complain but I did anyway.
"I'm sorry, my apologies should have come first." He said shifting in his chair.
"Never mind that's history." I said.
"That you just revisited?"
"That I just reminded you to be courteous." I said and he chortled.
"Forgive my manners." He apologized again.
"I already did- history, get it?" I said sarcasm in my words.
"Cool, soo..." He stuttered.
"So, did you know that 95% of individuals in relationships have no restraint to disregarding sexual tension." I orate looking into his enticing eyes, from where he's seated across my table, he falters.
"Really?" He muttered tentatively.
"Yes, it's highly likely that; you'll only lie about restraints of getting involved until marriage; that despite moving in together, you'll stay tame until either proposes. When really...it's some wild risk." I add a smirk tugging on my lip.
"Well, there's-" I cut him short.
"There's nothing! Nothing they could possibly do to keep themselves from getting on each other. There's lust and adrenaline; there's no one who needs to know save for them." I say noticing him shift on his seat again; possibly from discomfort on how our conversation was heading. I gloat inwardly.
"Who are we talking about again?" He asks.
"Is this conversation too much?" I reiterate, sipping on my black current soda.
"No-no...Please carry on." He says.
"Well, as I was saying; there's nothing they could do." I repeat.
"Who?" He asks dubiously.
"They...you know couples?" I say agitated by his lack of quick perception.
"I know who you're talking about, it was a joke." He chortles noticing my blushing cheek.
"But you can't joke about such a serious matter." I grumble.
"Lighten up love, life is short you got to smile when an opportunity is present." He says. His statement nettles me inwardly and I force a cynic smile.
"Happy?"
"Yes, very happy; except it was fake." He mutters and it's my turn to adjust my body on the chair but I don't falter.
"As fake as pacts, promises and pleasantries." I speak.
"What's your deal?" He asks.
"I don't date," I say immediately.
