when max moved to the town of hawkins, indiana, she had been confused.

california had been an amazing place to live in. she had many friends, and her reputation at school was a good one. she had her fair share of boyfriends- and girlfriends. she rarely had anything to trouble her mind or to disturb her peaceful life.

max, when in california, thought she was bisexual. her first best friend, lio, made her realise that she had an attraction to girls. unfortunately for max, lio did not reciprocate the feeling, and was instead homophobic. max had been extremely hurt after the incident, but others had been there for her as she picked herself up and had risen to be one of the most popular kids in the school, and openly bi.

whenever max had time to herself, she would lie down on whatever ground she had been standing on and think. she thought about school, her current lover, about the homophobes and otherwise random things.

it was the last day she had left at her school in california when she had become confused.

max realised, that throughout the years- not that she was keeping track- that she had had more girlfriends than boyfriends, and that her relationships with the girls usually lasted much longer than the ones with the boys. they were more loving and supportive, and if she was being honest, max had only dated half of the boys she did because she liked their hair or their sense of style. with the girls, she loved their personalities, traits, hobbies and specialties along with their looks.

her thoughts had kept her up all night that day, and they were still swirling around in her brain when she moved to hawkins.

it had been a month since she moved to indiana; and she knew.

max knew she was a lesbian.
