A Day on the Town

The following day, Nick wakes up to the intoxicating smell of bacon and eggs. A knock come from the door and the guards open it up to Liam standing there, he meets Nick's eyes and walks towards the stairs and Nick struggles to get up and hurry after him. 

Once in the dining hall he gets hit with a strong smell of pork, syrup, and bread. 

"What is that smell it smells amazing!" the maids and servants currently in there all shush him and whisper.

"The Queen is still asleep." he closes his lips into a tight line and sits at a chair and fills his plate full of bacon, eggs, and bread when the opposite door opens to a beautiful Queen Ivy in a pale blue summer coat, glossed lips, and bright eyes. She sits at her seat and begins to fill her plate up when she sees his and freezes a little.

"Hope you slept great.... We are heading into the town today so you can apologize to everyone you stole from... so eat up. Doesn't look like you'll have a problem with that." she smiles down onto her plate hiding her laugh. "William can you prepare the carriage while we eat please." William bows sand heads out one of the doors.

"Okay where do you get all this food? I've never seen it at any of the stalls, well except for the bread but even there it wasn't looking that great." he takes a bite.

"Well, let's just say I have a thing for the nicer things in life. I make sure to have the freshest food, nicest clothes, and the best attitude then most of the other queens." she takes a bite of syrup dipped bread.

"Well you definitely have all that..." he looks up at her she has a frown on her face now. "you okay?" Ivy looks up with a start.

"oh yeah I'm fine... I just wish I had someone to share all this stuff with and not just myself... I mean I have the servants, maids, assistants, but it still feels as lonely as a void. No one to hold me, kiss me, cuddle with me... it's kind of depressing but let's stop talking about that... What's your dream for the future? do you see yourself with a wife a family or anything?" he puts his fork down on the empty plate.

"Yeah, actually I do... I see myself with a family my own place... living in a town much like this one, but clearly I don't want that right now." she looks up surprised.

"Hm... maybe you just haven't found the person you want that with yet." she finishes eating her food and drinking her juice. "C'mon the carriage should be ready by now." she comes up next to him walking with him to the carriage.

"By the way you look really pretty today." he smiles at her with a side eye glance causing her to blush and look to the ground.

Once outside the wind hit her face cooling it off. They hopped into the carriage and it jolted to life scaring Nick half to death and Ivy giggling at his reaction.

"Different than jumping from building to building? William can you take us to that little old lady he stole from yesterday." she shouted out a window.

"Sure thing." he whipped the horse and they started going a little faster than a simple walk.

They come to stop and the door opens William taking her hand and helping her out of the carriage, Nick hops out shortly after her and takes a deep breath.

"Go get her tiger." he chuckles nervously and begins walking toward the little old lady.

"Excuse me miss." he says quietly.

"A little louder Nick." Ivy laughs silently to herself and he scoffs.

"Excuse me miss." he says louder and more confidently this time. She wakes up and glares at him opening her mouth about to say something. "I just want to apologize for what I've done in the past, and I can assure you it won't happy again." she blinks dumbfounded and shocked at his apology.

"Oh, young man it's okay, just don't do it again." she smiles at him with a tired and wrinkled smile. Ivy comes up behind him putting a soft hand on his shoulder and smiling at him sweetly, she turns her head to the little old lady and takes one of her small wrinkled hands smiling at her with misty eyes. 

"Thank you, for everything honestly." the old lady just looks up at her in confusion and comes around the stall to give Ivy a hug.

"No, sweetie thank you for making this town better. Here take some of my freshest food as a debt of my gratitude." the old lady grabs a basket full of bright fruit.

"Oh, I can't take this you keep it." Ivy gently pushes the basket back to her and pats her hands lightly, then she starts walking back to the carriage leaving the little old lady holding a basket full of thankfulness. Nick looks at the old lady and bows respectfully before heading towards the carriage where he hears quiet sobbing coming from within.

"Are you alright Your Majesty." a sniffle and the doors opens for him. William hops onto the seat and directs the horse towards the castle again. "Is everything alright?" Ivy shakes her head letting tears fall to the floor. "Who was that Ivy?" she looks up with red, teared up eyes.

"That was my mother." she lets out a small sob and put her head in her hands, she hears a shuffle of feet and rustle of clothes before she knew it she wasn't the only one on the seat and she turns her back to him. he reaches around her and puts a finger under her chin turning her face towards him, she looks up at him and lays her head on his shoulder, he wraps is arm around her small, shaking shoulders comforting her, he looks down on her with a small smile.

"William can you stop here please." Nick says.

"No,I only take orders from my lady." he retorts causing Nick to scoff.

"William. Please i need show her Majesty something." Nick begged.

"ugh... make it quick." the carriage comes to a halt breaking Ivy from a trance. 

"Why are we stopped?" she looks at Nick who is opening the carriage door.

"C'mon I need to show you something." he grabs her hand dragging her out of the carriage.

"William you can go home if you want to we Might be awhile going by little I know of him." William shakes his head and parks the carriage out of the road.

"I'll be here when you guys get back." Ivy nods and runs after Nick, leaving William behind.
