What Now?

life or death?

I was driving home. Zach and Grey were sat in the back of the car. We came around the corner and I gasped.  Claires Car had plowed into the cliff.

"Oh god! Claire!"

I jumped out of the car as fast as I could.

"Claire?"

I shook her shoulder but she didn't wake up.

"ZACH! GREY!"

They both came running over.

"I need you to run back to Owens trailer. Tell him Claire is hurt. Call an ambulance too!"

They nodded and ran off.

"Claire?"

Her eyes slowly fluttered open.

"Kar?"

"Hay little sis."

"Where. Where am I? What happened?"

"You were in a crash. Do you remember anything?"

"I remember saying goodbye to Maisie and Owen and then something ran in front of the car."

"Ok. Do you feel any pain?"

"My stomach."

Her expression changed.

"Claire? What's going on?"

"I'm pregnant."

"What!"

"I found out yesterday morning. What if I loose the baby?"

"You wont."

She nodded and her eye lids started to shut.

"Claire! I need you to stay awake! You hear me! Claire."

The sirens were getting closer and closer and I could hear the noise of running feet.

"Karen!"

I looked up and Owen was stood there with the boys and Maisie. He ran over to me and took Claires hand. The ambulance pulled up to the scene and pulled Claire out on a stretcher. Owen tried to get in the ambulance with her but they refused. We all piled into my car and raced to the hospital. When we got there they had already taken Claire through so all we could do was wait. We sat there for three hours before the doctor finally came out.

"Good news is that She is ok and can go home tonight. We do have some bad news though. She lost her baby."

"Baby?"

"Yes. Miss Dearing was Pregnant."

I wanted to crumple to the floor and cry for Claires sake but I had to be strong. We walked into her room to find her sat with her knees to her chest sobbing. Both Owen and I ran over to her and immediately wrapped our arms around her. The doctor came in and hour later to tell us it was ok for her to go home. Scott came to take the boys home and I took Claire Owen and Maisie. The journey home was silent. I looked over in my mirror and would just see Owen with his arms around Claire. We got home and the trio went straight inside but little did any of us know, Claire had been through this before. (In case you haven't read the book (the evolution of Claire) This dose not actually happen.)

I walked inside with owen and Maisie by my side. I went to bed the minute I stepped through the door. Owen tucked me in and Maisie gave me a cuddle to say goodnight. They both went to play games until they were tired. Instead of falling asleep I kept playing and replaying the summer of my internship. I had been pregnant with Justins child but an accident there caused me to miscarriage. I cried silently. People would say how can you hurt if you never knew the person you lost but it was like he or she was apart of me, and It teared me apart everytime. It would anyone. The pillow soon became wet with tears but I couldnt stop them falling. Not even when I heard owen come up to bed. 

"Claire?"

I just looked up at him.

"Oh hon."

I made room for him next to me and he wrapped his arms around me. I laid my head on his chest while he played with my hair.

"Its happened before."

I was whispering into his chest but he still heard me.

"What?"

"The summer that I was an Intern I fell pregnant but I got into an accident and I lost the baby. The baby was the only thing I had left of Justin."

"Oh Claire."

He wrapped his arms around me even tighter and I cried even harder. We both fell asleep in each others embrace.

I woke up in the morning sweating with tears rolling down my face. Another Nightmare. I walked into the bedroom and climbed in the little space between Claire and owen. Claire sat up and when she saw my tear stained cheeks she wrapped her arms around me.

"Another nightmare?"

I nodded.

"You, owen, grey, Zach and auntie karen and uncle scott all died and I couldnt save you."

She hugged me even tighter.

"Its ok. We are here. Want to come and watch a film?"

I nodded.

Claire grabbed the spare quilts, blankets and pillows and we laid them out on the sofa.

I checked the time. 3:22. We both sat down and I snuggled into Claire.

"What do you want to watch?"

"Matilda?"

"Good choice. Matilda is one of my favourites."

"Im sorry."

Claire stared down at me.

"Why?"

"For what happened with Justin. I know how much you must have loved him."

"He was the first person to love me back."

We smile at each other and I lay my head on her lap.

"Maisie?"

"Yeah?"

"When is your birthday?"

"Not tomorrow but the day after."

"What! Why didnt you tell us?"

"I didn't want to be a burden." 

"Sweetie you could never be a burden."

I know this chapter is crap but it 

will get better. Leave ideas for
