Every one in Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children knew that Hugh and Fiona liked each other. They would blush like crazy when they were near each other, yet they spent most of their time together. Before Fiona joined them, Hugh never felt complete, but now that she's here he saw life in a different perspective. Thankfully, Millard was going to try to get them to come to their senses.

"Would you care to go fetch me some carrots and radishes for supper?" Miss Peregrine asked Fiona politely. She smiled and nodded her head before walking to the garden patch outside. The other children were enjoying the sun with one another, Enoch and Horace reading under the apple tree, Jacob and Emma walking together, Olive and Claire playing hide and seek, and Hugh and Millard playing soccer. She smiled to herself and leaned down, putting her hands above the soil, four carrots emerging only two seconds later.

"Hey, Fi," said a voice from behind her. She turned around to see an out-of-breath Hugh smiling down at her.

"Hi," she waved and picked the carrots from the patch. Hugh offered to hold them while she finished picking the radishes.

"Fi? Um....uh," Hugh started to say when she stood back up, but it seemed as if he couldn't figure out what he was trying to say. "Nevermind, its not important," he said and shook his head. Fiona looked at him confused, but just shrugged it off. If he didn't feel comfortable saying something, why push him?

Together they walked into the house and set down the vegetables on the kitchen counter.

"Why thank you, you two. Now go enjoy yourselves, Bronwyn and I will have it ready soon," Miss Peregrine thanked them. They returned the smile and walked off.

"Hugh, you will not believe what I just did!" Millard called from outside. Hugh laughed sheepishly.

"Guess I better make sure he doesn't blow something up." Fiona laughed.

"See you later," she muttered and gave Hugh a quick peck on the cheek, causing him to blush profusely. He waved and went outside to accompany Millard. Fiona stood there, grinning like a child. Hugh made her smile. He made her happy, nervous, and confident at the same time, but most of all she felt loved and appreciated. Only Hugh could make her feel that way, and she positively loved him for that. She knew that Hugh liked her as well, but she wanted him to make the first move. She imagined it, Hugh all flustered and shaking, stuttering while trying to tell her but she cut him off mid-sentence with a soft kiss in the lips. If only it would happen.

After everyone was well fed and content, Fiona was laying on her bed, messing with her potted plants like she usually did when she was bored. Sometimes she would be able to make the stems twist and curl, or the petals would dance as she hummed her favorite tune. A knock on the door pulled her out of focus. She stood up and opened the door, Millard standing in front of her with a note.

"Hugh wanted me to deliver this to you," Millard said, and she could feel him grinning at her. Fiona smiled and took the note and watched Millard walk down the hall. Why would Hugh need to right anything on a note? Before she even read it, she new exactly what it was going to say.

I sort of kind of absolutely really really like you. Meet me in my room?

A red tint of color appeared on her face and she did a little jump before giggling. It was finally going to happen. She shyly walked up to his door, covering her red cheeks with her hands. What should she tell him? Should she even say anything? Then, she got an idea. She went back to her room and grabbed one of the many pots of soil from the corner of her room. You never know when you're going to need to grow something, right? She braced her hands above the pot and a gorgeous yellow tulip bloomed. She picked the flower and held it gently in her hands before returning in front of Hugh's door. She knocked three times, and saw his face light up when he saw the beautiful girl standing in front of him, holding a bright yellow tulip in her hands. She handed him the tulip and he held it in his shaky hands. He tried to say something, but all that came out of his mouth was a stray bee. He didn't need to say anything, though. Fiona reached up and kissed him gently with her hands around his waist. Hugh melted into the kiss and put his hands in the sides of her warm face. This is exactly what they had been waiting for, nothing but a perfect connection between them. Before she knew it, two bees had crawled in her mouth, and she pulled away with a gasped. They flew out without doing any harm, but Hugh began apologizing profusely and felt incredibly embarrassed. How will he ever be able to kiss her now? But Fiona just laughed and laid her head against his chest, feeling his heart race.

"I'll have to get used to that," she said in a voice barely above a whisper. Hugh wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin in the top of her head. "Hugh?" she said and pulled away from the hug, still holding his hands.

      "Yeah?

"I sort of kind of absolutely really really like you, too," she whispered with a smile. It was the most he had ever heard her speak at once, and it made his heart flutter.

"Finally!" Emma shouted from outside the door. She was right, it finally happened.
