Darling in the FranXX
Manga Art by Yabuki KentarouGenre/s:
Action, Drama, Mecha, Romance, SciFi
Plot:
In the distant future, humanity has been driven to near-extinction by giant beasts known as Klaxosaurs, forcing the surviving humans to take refuge in massive fortress cities called Plantations. Children raised here are trained to pilot giant mechas known as FranXX—the only weapons known to be effective against the Klaxosaurs—in boy-girl pairs. Bred for the sole purpose of piloting these machines, these children know nothing of the outside world and are only able to prove their existence by defending their race.
Hiro, an aspiring FranXX pilot, has lost his motivation and self-confidence after failing an aptitude test. Skipping out on his class' graduation ceremony, Hiro retreats to a forest lake, where he encounters a mysterious girl with two horns growing out of her head. She introduces herself by her codename Zero Two, which is known to belong to an infamous FranXX pilot known as the "Partner Killer." Before Hiro can digest the encounter, the Plantation is rocked by a sudden Klaxosaur attack. Zero Two engages the creature in her FranXX, but it is heavily damaged in the skirmish and crashes near Hiro. Finding her partner dead, Zero Two invites Hiro to pilot the mecha with her, and the duo easily defeats the Klaxosaur in the ensuing fight. With a new partner by his side, Hiro has been given a chance at redemption for his past
failures, but at what cost?My Opinion:
Ok...This was so LIT! 🔥 You'll feel everything in this series! It's not just all about action and robots because of all the characters and their purpose in the series! Every character has their own story! You'll mostly see it with the SHIPS!
OK FIRST OF ALL, I've just watched the anime. I haven't try to read the manga. Yes, I've scanned it just to see if both art styles in anime and manga are same and if what justice/story it has since the anime is finished! So let's go back with the story itself. (SPOILER ALERT) I don't actually know what to feel after watching this anime. While I'm watching it, I thought I will feel in the end the same way I've watched the Guilty Crown and Code Geass because, HELLO, they were all same with scifi and mecha genre and we all know that these two genres were always combined with tragic love stories (oh well it's because of our ships 😂)! That kind of plot leaves me with so much aftermath in a long duration of time but fortunately it doesn't disappoint me. The ending was actually bearable. Everyone was given a justice! The ships! #IchiGoro #MitsuKoro
The thing I also debated in my mind in this anime was the robots portrayed. Just like why do these robots need two pilots with two different gender in them but let's stop argue with that because it's in the story 😅. Well that was also one of the important factors in the story.
Actually, this anime has a bunch of lowkey hentai-sort-of scenes here! 😂 For the first few episodes, you'll be surprised with how they pilot the robots, how the characters react or moan in this series and also with the words they were saying!!
This anime, if you think so brilliantly, has so many theories or symbolisms with it. Well I'm not that too briliant 😂 but with my confusion with sexuality issues in the anime, I relay on other reviews. Some of reviews tells about metaphorical sex between Zero Two and Hiro. Ok I know, I'm too lazy to explain it but I also don't want to spoil you too much coz of it 😅. If you're curious about it you could read it in some blogs and even with some tweet threads but watched it first before you read it! It will kill the thrill if you read some theories beforehand!
