After months and months of continuous training, I've finally reached the day.. where I shall gain my first rune. Its a huge milestone for newbie ShadowHunters. I stood in the training room, getting some extra hours of work in before the ceremony began, when Alec came walking in on my session. I tried to focus, but the two, warm brown eyes of Alec Lightwood tore my focus into shreds.. if you know what I mean. "Your hands are too low" Alec commented, stopping me. I moved up from my stance, and growled. "This is getting ridiculously stupid. I've forgotten how to throw a shiv! How am I supposed to get my first rune today, if I can't remember the simple stuff?!" I yelled. Alec laughed, taking a shiv from my belt. "You're over thinking it" Alec says, facing the target, and with the flick of his wrist, the shiv hits the middle of the target with ease. "Show Off!" I growled. Alec laughed again, and returned the shiv to me. "You ready for your rune ceremony?" Alec asked. "In front of the Silent City? In front of Brother Arden? Not really. Im nervous about if I'll embarrass myself or something! I mean I don't even know what they'll give me" I replied with a snort. Alec turned his back to me and slipped off his shirt, and pulled an old punching bag into the middle of the room. As Alec threw a couple jabs left and right at the bag, I couldn't help but watch as bands of thick muscle moved underneath his scarred and runed skin. "Y/N?" Alec asked suddenly, bringing me out my constant stare. I blushed deeply as my eyes met his. "Can you name this rune?" Alec asked, ignoring the fact I was blushing, and pointed to his right forearm. "Uhh.. Agility" I stammer, blinking. Alec shook his head, and grabbed my hand, pressing it over the rune, on the right side of stomach. "This is Agility. The rune I asked about was Expectation" Alec corrected me. I almost forgot how to close my mouth. "Y-Yeah" I replied, shaken slightly. Alec threw a couple more punches at the bag, and then I felt out of place. I noticed a rune I hadn't seen on him before. "Is that an Iratze..?" I asked pointing. Alec smiled. "Good eye" He commented. Alec pulled me a foot closer, and then pressed my hand over another rune. "What about this one?" Alec asked. "Angelic Power" I reply. Alec nodded. We went on like this for about an hour, him placing my hand on different runes on his body, until he got the idea for me to activate one of his runes. "Try.. Try this one here" Alec commented, pointing to the defense rune. I press the stele next to his neck, but before I can activate it, Alec kissed me. I felt my body go numb. Alec pulled away, and looked at me. "I'm sorry" I mumbled, "I have to go" I dropped his stele... And I ran.
