I woke up next to Matt. A little concerned as he's shirtless. Okay. That's normal for guys to sleep shirtless. Not that I'm complaining because the sight is nice.
Come on Rae, don't ruin the friendship.
Slowly the memory of last night came back and relief fell over me when I remembered nothing happened.
While last night was fun, today's hangover is not.
I check the clock and it's 10:30am.
I get up and head to the kitchen to grab the aspirin and water. I grab enough for both me and Matt as he is still asleep on the couch.
I hear a rustling from the living room and realize Matt is probably up.
"Hey Rae." He says walking into the kitchen, still shirtless.
I think he noticed my eyes quickly scan his body.
"Oh, sorry. I got hot last night and must've stripped a little. One sec." He heads back to grab his shirt.
I walk towards the living room as he's slipping his shirt back on and hand him the aspirin and water.
"So, what's the plan for today?" I ask leaning on the arm of the couch.
"I actually have to work tonight." He says a little disappointed.
"Well maybe I might have to come see my 'BFF' at work. Unless you're tired of me." I joke, giving him the puppy-dog look.
"Did you just friend-zone me?" He asks, pretending to be hurt.
"Maybe." I say with a shrug and a smirk.
"But no, swing by. Elena and them usually come hang out, so maybe you can get to know them." He says, helping fold up the blankets.
"Well Rae, last night was fun but I have to head home. I'll see you later though right?" He heads towards the door.
"For sure. And, thanks for inviting me last night, I had fun. Let me know when you get home." I smile, but really the run-in with Damon is what I'm thinking about.
He gives me a small hug and heads to his truck. I shut the door and make my way upstairs to get ready for the day.
As soon as I get out of the shower, I get a text from Matt saying he's home. I know, that's 'cute' but like I said, we're just friends.
I throw on ripped skinny jeans and a blue tank top with white vans. My hair is naturally a mess, but I don't feel like dealing with it and my makeup is simple.
My mom texts me telling me they'll be home tonight, that's a relief.
I tidy up my room a little and finish unpacking.
Before I know it, it's 6 pm and I decide to head to the Grill. I don't mind walking places, it gives me time to think.
I'm not paying attention to where I'm walking because I bump into someone.
"Well hello there." I see Damon smirking.
"Oh, uh, hi Damon." I put my hands in my pockets.
"Where are you headed?" He asks, and leans his head to the side.
"Um, the mystic grill." I make a face.
"Going to hang out with your boyfriend?" He raises his eyebrows and crosses his arms.
"Matt isn't my boyfriend." I get a little sassy.
"Good." He smirks.
I feel myself blush a little. There's something about his eyes, and his smile, I just...melt a little.
