CHAPTER EIGHT– Float
BROKEN ME
I let my tears fall freely on my face as watched the only person I loved the most buried six feet under.
Maybe this was all my fault.
Regrets and 'what if's' were eating me inside out while I let my mind wander in the future with him. But even that was all a wistful thinking and it hurts more than I could even imagine. I thought Dave would be the constant person on my life but it never occurred to me that even that would come to an end.
The reality slowly sinking in and it’s taunting me to no end.
Who killed him?
Why him?
Why Dave?
Dave.
My eyes zeroed on the arm slung on my shoulder, the only thing that keeps me standing in the raging storm of cruel emotions inside me. And the constant reminder that everything was a big fat lie. A delusion of love and happiness that was crafted with wicked intension to deceive and fool the world. An act of possessiveness and control.
“You ready to leave, babe?” he asked looking at me worriedly
I shook my head and pulled away from him.
“Can you gave me a few more minutes? I’m going to say my goodbyes to Dave in private, please.” Anger and rage flashed through his eyes but as fast as it came, it vanishes before I could blink, masking it with his boyish smile.
“Okay, I’ll be in the car waiting.” He leaned down and kissed my forehead before leaving me as I torture myself alone.
I exhaled a gust of air before walking towards Dave’s fresh covered grave.
“I know I’ve hurt you and lied to you. But, I swear it kills me to have to keep this a secret to you. I love you and you’re the only one, Dave. Please believe me when I say, I did everything to protect you because I thought I am protecting you but in the end it only get you killed and now I’m hopelessly alone in this dark world.” I wiped my tears and kneeled on the dirt while my fingers traced his name carved on the marble stone.
“Right now, everything is a blur of dirt patches and confusion but I’ll get the bottom of it. I’m going to seek justice for you Dave even if it kills me.” I stand on his grave and let my eye shed one last tear before turning my back away from him.
“Please watched over me, Dave.”
“I love you. Until we meet again.” I raised my chin and put on a brave face, ready to fight and destroy whoever would stand on my way.
