After dinner Zayn was asked to stay the night, so that his healing could be watched over, whatever the hell that means. But he obliged because, hey, Juliet.

Zayn helped her with the dishes after dinner paying a little more attention to her striking red dress than he should've.

It was like fire on her skin, entrancing him with each slight movement she made. It clung to her ivory flesh, the saturated pigment exquisitely brightening her eyes of gold.

She danced around the kitchen putting away plates and glasses while Zayn watched her dumbfounded, drying dishware.

"Zayn? Are you okay?" She asked snapping him out of his trance. "I.. um.. yeah..I just.. heh.." he fumbled holding up a plate.

She smiled brightly and finished putting away the dishes. "Thank you for the help." she whispered and kissed his cheek. "You are welcome to sleep on the couch if you so wish it but should you want to sleep in a bed, feel free to crawl in with either my brother or myself." and with that she disappeared into her room, but not before leaving a clean set of pajamas on the couch. A bit naïve, a bit unsafe, and incredibly gorgeous. He liked this girl.

Needless to say, Zayn knew which room he'd be entering.

A few hours later he slipped into the hallway and noticed a crack of light coming from underneath Juliet's door. Silently he approached it and knocked softly. When there was no answer, Zayn opened the door and peeked in, his eyes resting on a sleeping Juliet. He smiled taking in her appearance, bathed in the glow of the soft lamp light, her ivory skin seeming almost golden against the pale sheets. He smiled fondly at the sight of a leather bound book lying open on her chest.

As he turned to leave, a soft whimper beckoned him to her bedside. Her sleeping face wore a pained expression, as though she was having a nightmare. He crept to her bedside, kneeling beside her and brushing a tendril of silken hair from her pale heart-shaped face.

Three things happened all at once;

Juliet awoke with a start;

She grabbed Zayn's wrist rather violently;

Zayn yelped a scream that he would never ever admit to no matter how hard you pressed him.

what Zayn saw next he would remember for years to come. Juliet's eyes widened and shined with the promise of fresh tears. A look of knowledge; a look that spoke clearly graced her features. A look that softly uttered: 'I know'. It was as though with one touch she read his life story; with gentle fingers caressing the pages and eyes misty of the tragedy. But instead of turning from the damaged boy she hugged him. She held him tight because there were no words to explain the pain she felt radiating from the raven-haired boy. His dark eyes hid a story that the world wasn't ready for. A story that Juliet wasn't ready for.
