'It had been six months since Juliet had been assigned to London. There were a lot of corrupted souls and criminals, but it was her favorite city so far. First it was New Orleans with human trafficking, Chicago with the murders and sexual assaults, then she landed smack in the middle of Afghanistan where she had no choice but to join the fight, then Verona, Berlin,
Tokyo, and so on and so forth. Some might find it odd that a girl of her age might be so well traveled and couragous, but this was what Juliet was born to do. She was an angel, and she was here to help save humanity.
Most people have these stereotypical assumptions about angels, that when they come to earth their prescence will be announced with a bright light, that they are always pure, free of any blemish or mark, that their skin is flawless and incorruptable. These are NOT true. Aside from gifts to aid them in their quest such as telekenesis, healing, etc. and a pair of extravagant ivory wings that can appear as mearly scars when folded, they are nearly human. They get acne, they get hungry, sad, angry, and even heartbroken. Regretfully angels can't always complete their tasks and are hunted. There are dark forces at work on the side of chaos, willing the human race into a self inflicted genocide. That is why angels walk among us, their heavenly glory hidden from our veiw. They are here to save us from ourselves.
It was around 6:00 and Juliet Clifford was quite tired and ready to be home. She had spent the majority of her day turning around slimy lawyers and adulterers, which can really take it out of you. She was approaching the entrance to her flat when she heard a groan coming from the alleyway that housed the building's dumpster. Knowing that she couldn't leave without making sure he was okay. It was definitely a he, she thought creeping closer to the alley. Finally she gathered her courage and ducked into the darkening alley to investigate.
It didn't take the young angel long to locate the source of the sound. There was a boy about her age lying in a heap of rubbish, he was badly beaten and bruised, it bothered her that someone could just leave him like this. In a split second decision Juliet hoisted the boy onto her shoulder and began climbing the rusty fire escape to her flat.
