As I've explained earlier in part three on how love fulfills the law, we understood we had two greatest commandments which Christ hath put above every other thing and the second one says that we should love our neighbors as ourselves.
This is one of the things Christ wants to dwell in us which is to love God and put Him first and to love your fellow brethen. You are to love everyone, and not only your friends.
Let's now look at scriptural references.
Matthew 5 vs 43_48
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shall love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy;
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven, for He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust;
For if ye love them which love you,what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?;
And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans do?
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven perfect."
Christ is telling us to love everyone and be like our Father who treats us all justly.
He wants us to be loving and caring like our Father. He wants us not to look down on people but encourage and embrace them in love. He wants us to love as He hath loved us.John 15:9_17
"As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love;
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments and, abide in His love;
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full;
This is my commandment, That ye love one another as I have loved you;
Greater love hath no man than this,that a man should lay down his life for his friends;
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you;
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servants knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard from my Father I have made known unto you;
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He shall do it;
These things I command you, that ye love one another."
He wants us to love as He hath loved us. He sacrificed His life for us, He wants us to do it for Him and our fellow brethrens. He wants us to share His love.
John13:34 says "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."
Jesus ate with the sinners, fed the helpless, healed the hopeless, taught the non Jews, and now He said that we should love as He hath loved us.
As Christians, we are to love everyone. Including the non Christians, traditional believers, non believers etc because doing this, we have fulfilled the love of Christ as children of God.
This love is not only sacrificial love but also love as Christ did for everyone. He cared for the sick, He raised the dead, He blessed the poor, He healed the sick, He blessed those that persecuted Him. So do the same. Bless those who persecute you as our Father hath commanded you to do.
