Chapter 28: Monstrous

Savannah's P.O.V.

I was with Derek at his place. I had just moved in with him and Braeden and I honestly feel more safe here. Brett has been visiting me every day. Derek even tells me that me and Brett remind him of himself and his first love, Paige. Derek has been teaching me more things about being a True Alpha, since this is still relatively new to me.

Now, we were going to test my combat and strength skills. Braeden had a mission to go to. I was in a tank top with denim shorts, a belt, and a pair of converse. Because I was training, I put my hair in a long ponytail and had on my training gloves. Derek was wearing a white tank top with a pair of black jeans and combat boots. Lucky for me, he had a punching bag in here.

It was also dark outside and it was raining, so it made it easier for me.

"Alright, Savannah. We're going to work on your punches and kicks. In order to show yourself as a True Alpha, you need to be strong and have excellent skills in physicality, especially in combat. Alright?" he asked me. "Got it." I replied as I cracked my knuckles. "Okay. First, start on the punching bag and then on me." he instructed.

I nodded as I went to the punching bag that was there. I took a deep breath before I began landing punches and kicks. Derek seemed impressed as I began to sweat buckets. I did a ninja style kick to the punching bag, followed by a brutal punch. The bag was swaying back and forth very rapidly. It was then Derek came over.

"Okay, that's enough. Now, we're going to practice one-on-one." he said. I nodded as we went to the middle. We got into our fighting positions and our eyes glowed. His yellow and mine red. "Why the hell are your eyes yellow?" I asked. "We'll talk about it later." he told me. "Works for me." I said before we began to go at it.

He went to punch me, but I dodged and did a backflip. I began to dodge his kicks and punches. I ran and wrapped my legs around his neck, spinning in the process before sending him down. He looked at me in shock. "How did you know how to do that?" he asked. "I have two hunters in my pack remember?" I asked with a smirk.

He ran for me, but I dodged and but him in a submission hold. "Okay, okay, that's enough." he told me. I let him go and stood up. I extended my hand out and helped him up. "You are a natural at this." he told me. "Thanks." I said. "Let's work on your pull-ups." he said. I went to the pull-up bar he had and grabbed it. "Ready?" he asked. I nodded. "Go." he told me.

I breathed as I began doing my pull-ups. I thought about Scott and the others betraying me and I began going a bit faster. I continued doing the pull-ups until my body was aching, but I knew it would subside. "Time." he said. I jumped off and landed on my feet, breathing heavily. "You good?" he asked me. I nodded as I gave him a thumbs up.

"Alright. That's enough for tonight." he told me as I stood up. "I'm going to go and find Brett." I said. "Alright. Be careful." he told me with a hug. "I will." I replied as I hugged him back. We pulled away and I slid open the door before closing it. I ran and ran until I was outside the vault. My eyes glowed as I ran through the pouring rain.

It was then I heard a howl, but it was a howl of fear and panic. I sped up as I noticed the howl as Brett's. "Please be okay." I said as I followed to where I heard the howl. Soon, I was at the high school. Why could he be here in the school? It was then I saw a van there and it was open. I saw some weapons in there. My eyes widened at the sight.

I sensed a heartbeat and I followed it to the lacrosse field. I saw a young girl there who looked lost. Immediately, I ran over to her. "Hey!" I told her. She looked at me in fear. "No, no, no! It's okay! Can you tell me what's wrong?" I asked her. "Why should I trust you?! You're not one of them are you?!" she yelled. I flashed my eyes and her eyes widened.

"You're an Alpha." she told me. "Yeah, I am. Now, what's happening? What's your name?" I asked her as it rained harder. "Lori. Assassins. They're after me and my pack. I can't find my brother." she explained. "Who's your brother?" I asked the young girl. "Brett Talbot." she replied. My eyes widened. "I know him. I'm just girlfriend. Come on. Let's find him." I told her.

I grabbed her hand and pulled her with me. We soon found ourselves in the middle of nowhere. "Lori! Savannah!" I heard someone shout. I looked and as a tall figure run to us. "Brett?" I asked. "Savannah, what are you doing here?" he asked me. Just then, the field lights turned on and Ibsaw some red lines. I knew whatbrhese were.

Assassins.

"What's happening?" Lori asked. "Close tour eyes. Both of you." I told them. They both did and I saw an arrow come flying at me, but it was snapped in half. I looked and saw Kira there. She looked at all three of us. "Run!" she shouted. As much as I annoyed me, I didn't have time to argue. I grabbed Lori as Brett grabbed my hand.

We continued running until we were safe. Or so we thought.

As we ran, there was a gunshot and I screamed as I felt a piercing and sharp pain on my shoulder. I fell to the ground, holding my shoulder. "Savannah!" Brett called out. He and Lori went to check on me. "Baby, are you alright?" he asked. I shook my head. "I can't feel my body. I think the bullet had wolfsbane." I explained as I groaned in pain.

"That's what happened to me when Garrett got me. Come on." he said as he wrapped one arm around me and wrapped my arm around his neck. I struggled to walk as Lori and Brett helped me. We saw Kora there with other people I didn't recognize. I saw a woman there next to Kira that couldn't make out.

"She needs help. She got laced with the same wolfsbane as me." Brett explained. Kira nodded her head. "I know a place to take her. As well as all of you. Come on." Kira said. Soon, I felt my vision get blurry and before I knew it, everything was black.
