After a long walk into the main village, Luke and I headed to my favourite charity shop. We didn't speak much on the way, the occasional question here and there. Nothing special. I asked about his life in Australia and he said he preferred it over there than here. I laughed awkwardly, not knowing what I was meant to reply with.
Once my eyes landed on the "Angel's Gift" charity shop, I practically ran inside whilst Luke followed behind. I scattered myself everywhere whilst I was there.
"What are we looking for exactly?" He asked, touching all the old and used materials in the shop. I looked through the old designs of clothes, trying to find the perfect stuff.
"Okay, so I need something old vintage, something like a dress. It's all for my art work and college work," I said happily. Mainly because I was in my favourite place in the world. Even though it was a charity shop, it was amazing. They had everything from books to suitcases to clothes. Even guitars and pianos. My eyes wandered until they locked with the most perfect dress for my work. I lightly jogged towards it and picked it up. It was beautiful. It was a 1960's dress, which had the colours of pink and white covering it, but it had the most gorgeous designs of flowers scattered around the bottom half. A bow was placed in the chest area for more effect, which topped the whole thing off. The bottom was puffy of course, whilst the top was slim fitting. It was exactly what I needed. I turned to Luke to tell him I was done but to my surprise I couldn't see him. I wandered around the shop until I saw his tall figure and blonde hair looking at the guitars. I waltzed over to where he was stood, he didn't even acknowledge me at first.
"I'm done," I said nicely, he looked down and nodded.
"That will be 15 pounds please G," the old cashier said. His name was Ernie and he was the cutest man ever. He was old and small, but he was the nicest person ever. And he knew me since I was three years old, so to me he was family.
"Thanks Ern, see you same time next week?" I asked smiling at him. He smiled back and nodded.
"Of course darling," he replied smiling just as wide as I was. Luke and I headed towards the door to leave the shop. Once we got outside I noticed my best friends across the road at work.
"Follow me," I said to Luke, a bit too quick as I don't think he actually heard me. But he did as I said and lagged behind me like a lost puppy. We walked into the small café called "Chester's" where my friends and I all worked - hence how I met them. I walked over to my best friend Holly who was cleaning a table.
"Hey papi," I winked. Using her pet name we made up on our work group chat. She looked over at me with pure excitement, even though she saw me the night before.
"Hey... I won't use your nickname," she whispered so that Luke couldn't hear.
"Oh, Hol, this is Luke my new neighbour," I smiled sheepishly. She looked at him in awe before snapping out of her thoughts and smiled at him.
"Hi I'm G's bestie Holly, nice to meet you," she smiled largely at the new boy.
"Hey, nice to meet you too," he smiled back. Once I noticed my other best friends I told Luke to follow me as I wanted to introduce him, so he wasn't alone of course. I walked up to the best couple, Courtney and Michael, and jumped on Courtney's back. Obviously, she nearly died with shock. Her face bright red like a traffic light. We laughed and Michael came up to hug me.
"How's my fave little friend doing?" He asked laughing, which to me wasn't funny to say I was 5'4.
"Fine. How's my green haired moron doing?" I asked back, sarcastically. He laughed and nodded.
"Fair play G, who's this?" He nodded at Luke, who was looking around the small café.
"Guys, this is Luke my new neighbour," I introduced. They all said their hellos and exchanged handshakes. Whilst I was being lifted off my feat by the one and only, Ashton Irwin. My other best friend. I yelled at him to put me down and he did so, whilst hugging me.
"My little G! I've missed you today," he said with his little grin. His curly hair flowing over his face, practically covering it all. He removed it with his hands, pushing his brown locks away from his eyes.
"I missed you lots too! How's it been?" I asked. Knowing his answer was going to be the same as always.
"Shit," A deep, fed up voice said appearing out of the back room. A tall, dark figure came out of the fridge and into the main café. My other friend, Calum Hood. I smiled and ran up to him. He happily took me in his arms and lifted me up. "My little G, work has not been fun. Same old same old. Holly broke the vase in the main room," he said disappointingly. I looked at her with a mocking 'shocked' face. She smiled at me with utter sarcasm.
"No! You did! I was just there when it happened!" She defended herself. Calum laughed and ruffled her hair. They all went back to work, except Courtney and Michael who were making out in the corner of the room. I looked at Luke who had a deadpan face and smiled.
"You want a hot chocolate?" I asked to avoid the awkward silence. He nodded and smiled at me. I went round to the back of the counter to make our drinks, until I saw Luke's very confused expression. "What?" I asked awkwardly.
"W-what are you doing?" He asked, still confused. His eyebrows were furrowed and his eyes stared at me intently.
"I work here, I'm allowed," I said confidently. He just looked at me in a strange way.
One hour later
Luke and I finished our hot chocolates and headed back home. The walk was quiet as Luke was on his phone the whole time. But I didn't mind. I wasn't one for small talk, or for any kind of talk unless it was with my best mates.
Once we reached our street Luke thanked me for the hot chocolate and we went our separate ways. I didn't know what it was about him, but he wasn't the normal type of person. He was quite intimidating yet barely spoke. I went straight to my room to finish off my coursework once I arrived home. Confused by the day that happened not long before.
