Anne stood hand in hand with Phillip on the steps of PT and charity Barnum's house. Anne slowly moved her hand up Phillips arm so that she could hold onto his elbow with both her hands.
They had invited them for dinner that evening with their two children. The Barnum house resembled similarly to Anne and Phillips own home. With a big white doors and marble steps. The houses were in close proximity to each other so it made sense they would have similar architectural structures.
Anne and Phillip smiled at each other as they heard squealing in the other end of the door.
"I want to answer it!" A little voice cried as the door creaked open.
The door instantly slammed shut. "No you got to open it last time!"
"Girls, please," they heard charity's voice say. "Just open it together."
There was slight grumbling on the other end but the door slowly re opened.
"Girls!" Phillip celebrated, pretending he hadn't heard their previous fit of arguing.
"Phillip!" The two of them squealed together, running up to give him a big hug.
He had crouched down to their level and after they had tackled them, so he stood to added charity, kissing her on each cheek as she did the same.
Anne followed her husband into the house, hugging charity as well.
"Ah, there's my husband," charity said as PT entered the room.
"Welcome," He said.
Anne ended up in kitchen talking to charity, resting her forearms on the marble countertop while charity, stood on the other side. The two little girls circled around the room, each holding a doll while also chasing each other. Meanwhile Phillip and PT we're talking business in PT's office.
"Do you enjoy it? Anne asked.
"Enjoy what?" Charity replied.
"Motherhood." Anne said simply.
Charity smiled cheekily up at Anne. "Of course, I should've realized earlier."
"Realized what?" Anne frowned with confusion.
"That you and Phillip are expecting."
Anne quickly shook her head. "Oh, really, I-"
Charity chuckled slightly. "I first thought about when you nearly threw up over my cabbages."
Anne smiled. "You won't tell Phillip, will you?"
Charity's eyes almost bulged out of her sockets. "You mean to tell me you haven't told him yet."
"I've been mean to, I really have. But there's been so much going on." Anne said. "I really just he could figure it out on his own."
Charity rolled her eyes. "Typical, men never know."
After a moment when no one spoke, charity answered Anne previous question. "Yes, I do enjoy it." Charity quickly finished. "Motherhood."
Anne smiled in a slight relief. "Really? Surely it can't be all that easy."
"I never said it was easy." Charity giggled at the new mothers foolishness. "It might be the hardest thing you will ever do but it is the most fulfilling experience and I will stick by that."
Anne smiled at her friend.
"We have never been very close, Anne." Charity said quietly. "But I hope I can offer you some wisdom during this new experience in your life."
Anne flushed with happiness. "Oh I would be forever indebted to you."
"First things first," charity started. "You must tell Phillip."
Anne sighed. "I seem to be hearing that a lot lately."
