On Our Way

Chapter 2

 I walked down stairs with my suitcase and went over to Jason. “Are you excited for the trip?” I ask him. “I don’t know, I mean it can’t be that bad because we’re going to a beach house. But the ‘family’ thing caught me by surprise.” He gave me an expecting look, wanting me to agree with him. “I guess I feel the same way, but it does involve a beach, and that was first on my summer To-Do list.” I walked away leaving Jason with a confused look on his face.

My mom walked down soon after, and told us to put our stuff in the car. I was having trouble with my suitcase, it was so heavy. Like a normal teenager I packed almost all of my clothes, hey, you never know what might happen when you’re on vacation. I looked over at Jason, who was staring at me with a smirk on his face, which got me annoyed. “Stop standing there like an idiot and help me!” I yell at him. “Oh sorry,” he said sarcastically, “I forgot I have to be at your every beck and call.” He walked over to me, picked up my suitcase and walked away. 

I took out my phone and started texting my best friend, Samantha. “Hey girl, I’m on my way to the beach house. Wish me luck; I have an annoying brother and a stupid mom to deal with.” She texted me back immediately, “Sorry, well try to have fun, maybe you’ll find something interesting.” She always reassures me. “Thx, maybe I will.” And with that I closed my phone and walked out the door.

My mom and Jason were already in the car, I think they were talking about the plans we have. Oh great, plans. Why can’t I go out and do what I want. A voice in my head was telling me I’m a stubborn teenager, but I don’t care, I already know that. Instead I just shook my head and kept walking. When I got in the car my mom asked me what took so long, I just said, “I was making sure I didn’t leave anything behind.” I smiled hoping it would cover up my lie. “Ok,” she said and started the car. Jason glared at me but I just smirked. Oh it’s great having a gullible mom.

*Sorry, once again pretty short. I don't what else to put in this chapter, and I also thought this was a good place to end. Thanks to you guys who are reading this book. Oh and by the way, if you're confused her dad died years before so it's just Victoria, Jason, and their mom.*
