Chapter 4 - Settling In

I pulled out all of my clothes and my few other items and tossed my brown sack to the side of the room I nicely folded my clothes my pants and shirts in the bottom drawer and the few pairs of socks and underwear I have in the top drawer I walked over to the alcove putting my two books in the shelf the were the first harry potter book and breaking beautiful but already in the bookshelf there was a book it had a spiral holding it together it had a black cover and a cardboard back I pulled the book out worried that it had been left on accident I open the cover and I see a note,

"I remembered you had said you like drawing so I got you a new sketch book and a bag of new pencils that are in your desk it's a little gift from me and duncan."

I smile I always get this doofing grin on my face when i'm really happy I set the sketch book on the seat and headed down the stairs I smelled something amazing something that I remember something like.

"Dumplings ?"

"Yup." Kim said with a grin " and wantons and Peking Roasted Duck and rice of course ."

"Sweet!" I sat down at the counter my mouth already watering.

Kim proceeded to place a large plate full of delicious hot food and a medium sized bowl of white rice . These were all foods from my childhood. I started to tear up.

"What's wrong?" Kim said sounding slightly worried.

"Oh it's nothing i'm fine it's just these were the things that my mum would make for my birthday," I sighed" She always said it evened out the bad luck from my birthday."

My birthday is October 13th I was born on a friday in 2003 and people swore I was bad luck but not my mom she was the only one.

" Wow sound like she really loved you i'm sorry i'll do my best to be the best mom but I could never take her place."

I stood up from my place and walked around the bar to her I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her harder than ever and I smiled I started to cry soon I sniffled and wiped my nose by the the food was cool enough to eat I grabbed a pair of chopsticks and began eating, today was the best day of my life today I had a new start today I started being happy.

Later that day I was sitting in the alcove drawing I was drawing the scene outside, the ruby red leave falling off the trees one by one with every new gust of wind I had my flux buddies jacket wrapped around me I could only hear one thing Override[A] By Area 11 my favorite song and the one that started the bound between Ki- mum and I it feels like that car ride was forever ago when really it was earlier this day. I finally decide that I needed to move I swung my lugs to the ground and stood almost falling in the process I zipped up my jacket and walked down stairs I popped down the stair seeing mom sitting on the couch will a pillow watching a movie by the time I saw 30 seconds I could tell it was 'It' I sat down on the couch next to her and curled up in the blanket she had we sat together and had a movie marathon and I ended up curled into a ball in her lap as I slowly slipped into unconsciousness.

I only woke up to a tall man blond man carrying me up the stairs though I was not scared it was comforting because I assumed that this was duncan. I was laid in my bed and the warm duvet soon smothered me I was so warm and comfortable I soon fell back into unconsciousness. I awoke to the smell of Biscuits and Gravy with bacon! I slowly pull me out of the bed that swallowed me in the night and I see something on my desk folded neatly I strained my eyes in the bright light from the window. I started to walk to my desk and of the rug near my bed the floor was freezing so I did what any normal person would I attempted to jump to my beanbag as if I were a kid playing the floor is lava. So preparing myself for the jump I did a mini run and.... Thud the rug slid and I fell straight into the lava I stood rubbing my hip that had taken a great fall and walked to my desk when I pulled the thing of my desk it unfolded it was a gryffindor house footsie so being desperate for warmth I slipped it on zipped it up and walk briskly to the stairs which I proceeded to yell avada kedavra will using a pencil I found as wand when i got to the bottom of the stairs I pointed at mom while she pretended to fall over dead. After we stopped laughing I realized that she wasn't the one cooking it was the same tall blonde man as before.

"Oh hi I'm Aiden." I said awkwardly putting my hand out.

"I'm Ducan"

We both shook hand awkwardly. And the went to the set table to eat who knew that would be such a fun day for the three of us.
