Hey everyone! I'm sorry that it took me so long to update. I have had serious writer's block as to what I should continue with. I hope you like this next chapter!
-JI have to cover my ears as the ambulance pulls right up to us, people darting out of its way. It stops just about twenty feet from us and the siren stops suddenly.
Two people, one man and one woman, jump out of the vehicle hurriedly. I wave my arms, signaling them to come over. My mom can't wave hers. She is holding Brianna, who is beginning to wake up.
I hear my mom whisper something into Brianna's ear.
"Oh my baby, I'm so sorry this had to happen to you..."
The medic man first talks to me, his eyes piercing me with ferocity and professionalism. He tells me that his name is Ethan, then proceeds to ask me questions about when the seizure started and how long it lasted.
I turn away from Ethan as soon as the interrogation is over. Those eyes. They get to me, and not in a good way.
I direct my focus onto my mom, who is still whispering to Brianna.
"I promise, baby, as long as I'm around I won't let anything else hurt you."
A cool wave of electricity crawls up my spine, and I shake just a tiny bit.
The woman medic is absolutely stunning. She has a super-cute platinum blonde pixie cut and is tall and thin. Plus, her crystal-clear blue eyes make her look like a fairy.
Go on, I think, use your pixie magic on Brianna.
The woman asks my mom if she wants to go in the ambulance to the hospital.
"It's just for vital checks. Other than that, she should be okay," the burning brown eyed man informs us.
"No thank you, I need to move my car. I drove here. I will see you soon, you two," the last part directed toward Bri and I.
Our mom jogs to the parking lot as the pixie woman and Ethan place Brianna's tiny body carefully on a bed in the back of the truck.
I climb in, almost tripping on the small up-step into the emergency vehicle. The sirens start again to clear the people, and we start our rickety ride to the hospital for vitals checks.
Once we get to the hospital, I am surprised to not see Mom standing there waiting for the ambulance to arrive. It took us quite a while to get off of the fairgrounds.
Traffic. It ruins lives. I know she has her phone on her, and she normally picks it up when someone calls. So, I click call on her contact as Brianna is taken to a hospital room.
The phone rings once, twice, then three times.
No one answers. Ugh.
I decide to try to find Brianna's room. They hadn't bothered to tell me which one it was.
I stumble into my sister's room, exhausted from all of the stairs I had to climb.
An hour passes.
Still no doctor, pretty typical.
Still no mom, very worrisome.
