2 months later (July)

Tavi

I parked my car outside of McDonalds getting ready to start my day at work.

The past two months have been good for me.

I turned 17, got a job, and realized that I was growing up and I had to start acting like an adult.

After Martina left for Alabama my mom and I haven’t heard from her since. It would have been nice to have my father around for my birthday, but without Martina we couldn’t get in contact with him.

I’ve learned that I needed to stop waiting around for him to show up and just move on with my life. It’s unhealthy to sit and wait for something I know won’t happen, so why bother?

As far as my social life goes; Rasia and I are still best friends. We were so sure that Jasmine would come around once summer started, but it didn’t happen. She’s just another person that I won’t sit around and wait for.

I haven’t been talking to any of the guys that I once dealt with including Shayne.

I’m not gonna lie and say it was easy, but once I realized that they weren’t doing shit for me I stopped worrying about them.

I haven’t actually been in a relationship before and it would be nice to date someone, but I have a lot more to worry about and love can come later in life.

I’m going to start my senior year off strong. I wanna get into ClarkAtlantaUniversity and study to be a psychologist.

It took some time, but my life is finally coming together.

“Hey Kim” I said to my co-worker as I walked in the back ready to clock in.

“Hey gorgeous” She smiled at me as she sat at the drive thru window.

I know McDonalds is a shitty job, but at least it’s something.

And a summer job looks good on college applications and that’s exactly what I need to get into CAU.

I clocked in and made my way to the counters and typed my work number into the cash register I would be working at today.

It wasn’t that busy because it was a Sunday so I sat and waited for someone to walk in.

“How’s your summer going?” Kim asked as she walked up next to me.

Kim was a little older than me. She graduated when I was in 9th grade, and we actually went to the same school.
