Will GNxDDD ever not write Hetalia fanfics?

It's hard to say.

I'm hoping this will be my last entry with a Hetalia fanfic but who is to know. My main reason for using Hetalia this time is because it already has a set of characters which are cannon but don't appear in the...main cannon because they are designed as alternates!

Excuse my poor explaining.

The 2p versions of the main Hetalia characters make for an interesting bunch to write about and I suppose a lot of it is just fan speculation, but fan speculation is fun to delve into. I don't know why the 2p characters get such a bad rap, I don't really understand why people consider them to all insane when maybe they were just drawn on an off day? I don't know.

This challenge was not about just writing about a different version of the same characters though. It was about describing and explaining an event which shapes the course of history in the universes' cannon world thus creating an alternate reality.

It's a difficult task when you are trying to write for a fandom which the subject matter is set in/about the very world we live in. So, I thought, what is one fundamental thing which makes the world our world? It led me to create a world which is suffering from the dire consequences of suddenly spinning the opposite was (clockwise! We spin anti-clockwise! Who would have known!?). What were the consequences of the world suddenly spinning clockwise? Our beloved human nations slowly have started to morph into people who are not too nice (a sort of anti-version of their cannon selves).

I found myself falling down a rabbit hole in getting a little bit political in this entry too. Despite the differences in the cannon Hetalia world and this one, we can see a mirroring of some of the cannon things e.g. a very dysfunctional meeting. There is a bit of criticism for our world too – subtle but there (e.g. a lack of focus on huge-ass issues affecting the world and maybe everything Mr Jones says).

It was a very deliberate choice addressing the personified nations as "Mr ______". I felt like it created distance between us and these newly formed representatives of our countries. It also gives a notion that as hopeless as they are, they are important.

All in all, I'm glad to see the end of this entry. Writing 'Spun Axis' gave me bad vibes. I got the same feeling writing this as what I get when I watch 'Don't Hug Me I'm Scared' and Katy Perry's 'Chained to the Rhythm'. It's unsettling.
