[THE FIRST CUT IS THE DEEPEST]

"Hey Elle! Can you help me find a roommate?" Elle turns from the receptionist, revealing an eyepatch on her eye. "Oh my god! What happened?" She touches her friend's eyepatch, snickering. "It's not funny. And don't you dare call me a bloody pirate, yeah?" She warns, a small smile creeping onto her features.

"Argh! Where me pot of gold?!" Meredith laughs, but she stops when she sees Elle's face blank. "That's a leprechaun." Elle deadpans.

"I'm sorry. Umm, really, what happened?" Meredith asks, attempting to hold in her laughter. "Bar fight, I got punched really hard, and I stitched myself up, and then I put a gauze on, and found this eyepatch, so..." the other girl's eyebrows raise. "Well since you probably can't work, as you'll be busy later setting sail-" She then chuckles, "why don't you assist me?". "What about me, I could be your roommate?" Her friend instantly shakes her head. "No."

Meredith and Elle sit, talking to a blonde intern. "Look, I'm sure you're very nice, but I've very particular about who lives in my house and you're just not right." Meredith winces. "Why? Look, I'm quiet, no loud music, no parties."

"Where were you when the Challenger exploded?" She asks. "Don't worry, she asked me this too." Elle whispers. "The what?" Elle laughs, considerably loud, making people around them look at her strange. "The space shuttle. Challenger." The girl looks at her confused. "Uhh, I think I was in kindergarten." The intern says. "Oh my." Elle muses. "Exactly. No."

Elle stands at the receptionist's desk, looking at a case file, when she bumps into someone. "Oh I am truly sorry." The woman says, picking up the papers in the file. She looks up to hand them to the other woman. They stare at each other for a second, as the woman stares into Elle's green eye.

"Oh! Uh, here you go, ma'am.". "It's okay, umm, you can call me Dr. Garrett, I was just transferred." They shake hands. "Dr. Valentin." The woman smiles. "Well, it was to meet you, I guess." Elle walks away, looking for Dr. Bailey. "Yeah."

"Why do you put up posters for roommates if you don't want roommates?" Izzie asks.

"I do want roommates, we're together a hundred hours a week, you want to live together too?" Meredith asks. "No." Christina looks to the coffee cup that Meredith was holding. "Ooh, you're bringing bribes now?". "I need a place to live. My mom irons my scrubs. I have to get out of there."

"It's not a bribe, I don't think it's a good idea.". George looks at the girl. "But I can put down first and last deposit." It's totally a bribe. "I can cook. And I'm an obsessive cleaner." Izzie argues. "No. I just want two total strangers who I don't have to talk to, or be nice to, and it's not a bribe, it's a mocha latte."

They get to Dr. Bailey and Dr. Garrett, and Bailey starts to talk. "George, you're running the code team, Meredith, take the trauma patients, Cristina, deliver the weekend labs to the patients, Izzie, you're on sutures." She lists.

"Dr. Bailey. I was hoping to assist you in the OR today, maybe do a minor procedure? I think I'm ready. Mocha latte?" Meredith suggests. Elle's eyebrows raise. "If she gets to cut, I want to cut too." Christina starts, as the others start to get rowdy. "Yeah, me too.". "I wouldn't mind another shot, I mean if everybody else is..."
