Chapter 5: POV: North (Present Day)
"Dis is utter chaos!" I shout, gesturing to the raging storm outside my workshop. "What is going on?"
"I dunno mate, but it needs ta stop before my feet freeze to the ground when I'm running through my tunnels." Bunny says, dangling one foot by my roaring fireplace. "This is bad weather for rabbits."
"You think it's bad for you? Try collecting teeth out in the open, flying against 40 mph winds!!! I'm a bird for goodness sakes, not some griffin with strengthened wings. My fairies can hardly move out there!" Tooth and a few of her tiny fairies were huddling together near the fire as well, and a few had icicles hanging down from their little beaks. Sandy was forming signs above his head faster than could be comprehended and gesturing wildly with his arms.
"I know, I know, is bad. We need to fix it, and soon...where is Jack? He can help." The three exchange glances and shrug. "I am sure he would have seen the lights--"
"Not likely Santa Clause." A dot of white light in the center of our Guardian symbol appeared to be the source of the sound, but it was not Manny. It began to warp the area around it, expanding until it was a blinding doorway of light, through which a silhouette of a man stepped out of; the doorway vanishing as soon as he did. "Toothiana, E. Aster Bunnymund, Sanderson." The man, tall and thin like a lamppost, removes his hood; revealing a full head of neatly slicked dark auburn hair, silver eyes, and a youthful face that made him seem about 20 years old.
"Father Time." I narrow my eyes at him and he grins.
"In the flesh, well, in a manner of speaking. This is but one of my many forms."
"It's been a while, mate." Bunny spits out. Father Time pulls up the left sleeve of his deep blue robe, revealing an arm full of various mismatched watches.
"Indeed it has. You know how easily time slips away from me." Sandy forms a snowflake above his head followed by a question mark. "Ah, yes, Jack Frost." He smirks.
"I swear, if you've done anything to hurt him--" Tooth starts but is cut off by Time's next words.
"Oh, don't worry Fairy, I haven't done anything to your young prophecy children, but someone definitely has." He cryptically informs, reaching into the folds of his robe and pulling out a large hour glass held by a long silver chain and full of fine, clear grains of sand. "I was woken up very late last night to the crying protests of souls from over 300 years back. They were whining that someone had gone and messed with my very precise and orderly time stream. Of course, thinking them to be delusional at the time, I sent them back, only to find their complaints were true. Can you tell me how there seven children ended up back then?" Waving his hand across the hourglass he produces a hologram of Jack Frost trying in vain to catch someone's attention.
"Oh no!" Tooth gasps when the scene changes to Baby Tooth, except she's tiny and trapped in a cage held by a strange girl standing next to Robin Hood, though he does not look his usual cheery self. A round room with Merida and her mother arguing appears next, and before we can see anyone else Father Time cuts the connection.
"Why did you do that?"
"Don't act like you don't know about them."
"We don't!" Tooth yells, then covers her mouth and mutters an apology.
"Well who else has the cunning and smarts to get 7 teenagers to mess up my time?!?" Father Time argues, and after I exchange glances with fellow Guardians I realize we are all thinking same thing. Sandy, considerate as always, steps in and shows Time what we do not have heart to say. "The Nightmare King? Ha! That's the most absurd idea I've ever heard. If he had the power to send them back in time you'd be dead! Not that I'd have any qualms with that." His cocky aura drops when Bunny throws a boomerang at his head and he barely manages to dodge it. Father Time yanks a sharp, silver bladed scythe from his robe before Bunny can aim again and positions the sharp edge against his hour glass. "Now Bunnymund, let's not get angry, wouldn't want one of your precious teen's lives to....accidentally get shattered. " Bunny's eyes glint in rage but he backs down.
