When Sans woke up he was confused, when did he fall asleep? Rolling onto his front and propping himself onto his elbows to look around him he saw that there were other monsters including his little brother, around him and the human child in the center, all of them were out cold.

For a second he was scared that maybe he lost control and might have drained them, his soul trembled in his covered socket at the thought, he was always careful to never lose control to his urges and hunger, but he dismissed the thought. None of them had his bite mark on them and he didn't remember being particularly hungry either.

What he did remember was the strong urge to follow the human to barrier room after the Judgement Hall and their fight with the king. He also recalled vines covered in thorns, squeezing him and the other monsters before he had passed out.

He couldn't see the sinister flower that had trapped them all in sight, Sans couldn't help but wonder what the heck had happed while he had been out. He didn't have long to think about it though, as the other monsters started waking up. Sans grunted as he finally got to his feet to wonder what had happed with the others.

The others seemed to be worried about the state of the child, especially Toriel, which was understandable. Sans wasn't so sure why they were all freaking out, he could see through his eye-patch with his soul like a super enhanced eye, their stats were fine and they had a healthy glow to their soul, while the others weren't open to the information he saw, the human clearly had steady calm breathing, they were pretty much just sleeping.

When the child finally woke up Toriel embraced them in a warm furry hug, and everyone congratulated them on breaking the Barrier. "Come on guys, lets see the surface together!" Frisk had excitement laced into each word as they beckoned the small group of monsters over.

Sunlight was shining on the outside world, the others wasted no time to leave the Underground, while Sans stayed behind nervous, and petrified, he had always been terrified of the very idea of the sun, it was something that would burn his body, and easily heavily damage or kill him if exposed to the rays. Ever since his mother had warned him how dangerous it was for vampires such as himself he's had thins fear, heck he had nightmares of it as a child, though everything had been more twisted and less beautiful looking.

Sans couldn't risk be pulled into the rays by one of his friends or his brother, so while everyone was staring at the beautiful vast landscape that had been closed off to them, Sans hid behind one of the jagged walls leading out of the caver, turned into his small bat form and quickly fled back to his and Papyrus's home in Snowdin.

~~~Later at night time~~~
Sans was making his way back to the barrier, on foot, he wanted to really take in the scenery tonight, night time was safe for him, it would even make him stronger to bathe in the glow of the stars and moon. But he had more important things to do than stargaze, that would have to wait.
Papyrus hadn't come home, he must still be with the others on the surface. Well perhaps it was better for Papyrus to not be here, he would get worried and ask too many questions.
Sans just hoped he wasn't about to regret what he was going to do.
