Chapter 1

Kate POV

The morning sunrise poke out through my blinds, warming up my room with it's UV rays and shining me right in the face. And like they both spoke to each other and made the decision to wake me up, my alarm clock right at that very moment began to scream into my ear and I jump up from my bed in a little bit of a panic.

Damn phone.

I turn off the alarm, groan, and proceeded to go back to sleep. Just five more minutes please. I kept telling myself five more minutes and then I can..

But my sister busted through my door and on the top of her lungs sang, "Good morning sunshine!".

Ugh. Not this again.

"Come on Katie Cat!" She pulled my blankets back. "It's the first day of school!"

I moan. "Go away Lily!"

And without looking, I already knew she made those pouty lips and had the look of determination in her eyes that she was indeed going to get me up for school. Sure enough, she began to jump on top of me and found every tickle spot possible.

"Lily!" I laughed. "Stop!"

"It's the first day of school! We can't be late!"

"Fine!" I manage to push her off. "I'm getting up!"

She smiled happily and jump off my bed. I sat up as slowly as possible and glance over at the clock on my bed stand. I could of had a stroke when I saw the time! It was frickin six a.m. and school didn't even start until eighty thirty! What the hell was she thinking?!

"Lily it's six o'clock!"

She rolled her eyes. "And? Mom said to get up!"

I sighed and got out of my perfectly warm bed. It wasn't like I was excited for school anyways. It was going to be my junior year and Lily senior year which meant she was going to be leaving towards the end of the year and I would be left all alone. I didn't like the thought of not seeing her at school everyday or talking smack about the sluts who go to our school. She wasn't quite sure where she was going after high school, but she was already thinking about out of state or even out of the country! I was not happy at all to start this final year together..

"Cheer up Katie Cat." She smiled and walk towards my door. "It won't be too bad!"

"Yea for you.."

She chuckled and left the room. I groan one more time, loud enough for her to hear, and then got ready for school. I changed into a pair of blue jeans and slip on a simple white cozy sweater. I brush through my short blonde hair and finish my look with some simple makeup and a pair of sneakers. Afterwards, I walk downstairs and into the kitchen where I could already smell pancakes. My favorite!

"I call first dibs!" I declared.

Mom laughed. "I'm sure I have enough for seconds or even thirds."

Our real parents passed away from a plane crash when Lily was five and I was just barely four. My mom sister, Aunt Amy, had always been in our life ever since the day we were born. She never missed a dance rectial, school program, or sometimes she would go on family vactions with us. So of course when our parents were gone, she took us in without even thinking about it which is why we call her "mom" because that's what she is for us. About two years ago, she married our dad after years of dating and now we're all a family.

"Lily Rose!" Mom yelled. "You better come eat before Kate steals all the pancakes!"

"Ssssh! She doesn't have to know!"
