Chapter 3

Kate POV

A week later..

It was Saturday, but it wasn't just like any Saturday. It was mom birthday! And I'm so excited because I finally finish the painting I made of her! I stayed up almost until four in the morning finishing the final details while face timing Jake so he could give me suggestions. I would of ask Lily to help expect Bailey came over last night for some history project and then she ended up spending the night. The next day, I got myself up around eight to help dad make breakfast for mom. It's something we typically do for her just to show that we care.

"What will it be this year, sport?" Dad ask.

"Hmm." I thought. "Last year we did blueberry pancakes."

"Chocolate chip waffles?"

"She'll love it!"

He smiled and ruffled my hair. We started breakfast and in the end we made chocolate chip waffles with a side of eggs and fruit because mom loves fruit. We finish the food and set the table around nine thirty which Lily usually wakes up exactly at eight forty ish or maybe nine o'clock.

Dad frown. "Where's your sister?"

"I don't know." I shrug. "I think her and Bailey must of stayed up too late last night."

"Why don't you go wake her up? And mom too."

"Okay!"

I walk up the stairs and knock on Lily door. I figure it would be best to wake her up first and afterwards mom. That way we can both wake mom up together like we use to do when we were little.

"Lily!" I called out.

I heard some muffling and things being moved around. What the heck was she doing last night?

"Lily?" I said again.

She open the door. Her brown hair which was curled the night before was now in a tangled mess and her makeup was smeared all over her face. She wore black leggings and a white tshirt that had paint all over it. Man, and I thought I look rough in the mornings..

"Dad told me to wake you up so we could get mom up."

She look confused. "Why are we getting mom up?"

"Because it's her birthday.."

Her eyes got wide and her mouth made a little "O" shape.

"You forgot!"

"No!" She panic. "I didn't forget! How could I forget mom birthday? Just give me two seconds to freshen up and I'll come out."

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever."

What a liar..

Lily POV

I slam the door in Kate face and started to panic. Shit! Mom birthday!

"What's wrong?" Bailey groan as she woke up. "Why are you pacing?"

"It's my mom birthday and I totally forgot!"

Her eyes pop open. "Damn."

"I know!"

What to do? What to do?

"Did you get her a presesnt?" Bailey ask.

I sighed. "Yes, but it hasn't come in the mail yet. I was going to get her something small to make up for it and then I forgot."

Two weeks ago, my government teacher gave us a project where we had to create a poster that represented a important time in history. We had the choice of either working alone or with partners. Bailey and I decided to work together because we could spilt up the work and divide and conquer. However, while it seem like a good idea at the time, we ended up both procrastinating and waiting last minute to get the poster done. It's due Monday and since I have most of the crafting supplies already needed for the project, Bailey came over last night and we spent until six in the morning finishing it. We pick women's rights as our topic and it look great! But I guess between the project, Hunter, and dance I totally forgot about mom birthday and the necklace I orginally ordered was sent to the wrong address so until the company can send me another one.. I'm screwed.
