Chapter 2

Lily POV

Weeks past and then months afterwards, before we knew it August turn into September and September changed to October. I love October. The leaves began to turn from a summer green into a warm orange color and the air is just fresh and cool as the sun hides a little bit more behind the clouds. In October, I can start cuddling in big sweaters and mom and I love to decorate for Halloween. Besides the seasons changing, everything else seem to remain the same. School was boring as always and I was begining my season in dance. We're preparing a routine for our town "October Fest", something we do every year to mainly welcome the fall season and also celebrate Halloween. I had the idea of dressing up as different characters such as witches or zombies to match the song we're dancing to ("Monster Mash").

"I think you should go as a ghost." Kate suggested.

I laughed. "A ghost?"

We were both planted on a blanket in the backyard and we've probably spent an hour or so just talking while I braided and rebraided Kate hair over and over again. That's another thing I love about fall. It gives us more of a chance to do something such as sitting outside and we can entertain ourselves for hours by spending time together because it's not burning hot anymore and the day is pleasent. I will always appericate Kate and I sister time.

"Yea, you wouldn't need a costume. Your already white enough."

I playfully punch her arm. "Watch it."

She stuck her tongue out at me and I decided right there to tackle her to the ground. We must of wrestle for a few minutes before I had her in a headlock and begging for mercy. I smirk and let her go gently and she pouted for a few minutes like usual. Kate was defaintly the baby in the family.

"Don't pout Katie Cat." I said. "You can't help that you don't have these babies."

I flex my arm muscles and pretended to kiss them.

She rolled her eyes. "If you say so."

"I got something that I think will cheer you up."

"And what's that?"

I pulled a little box out of my jacket and handed it over to her. She raised a brow before opening the box very carefully (like I was about to prank her or something) and then immediately after looking inside her eyes filled up with tears and she pulled me into a tight hug. It took me a summer worth of chores and working at the bakery selling cupcakes and muffins, but I finally did it! I bought us matching gold heart necklaces. Kate's had a picture of me in hers and in mine I had one of my favorite photos of her. Ingraved on the front was "Ohana" which was suppose to remind us that no matter what we are family and no one would ever be left behind or forgotten.

"Thank you Lily!" She cried. "It's beautiful!"

I grinned real big. "This way a piece of me will always be with you."

"I don't know what I did to deserve you." She sniffled.

"You didn't have to do much. You just had to show up and accept me as your sister."

Kate chuckled. "You will always be my sister. My favorite sister."

"I'm your only sister!"

We both laughed and hug once more. We put our necklaces on and swore to never take them off.

"Girls!" Mom poke her head outside. "It's time for dinner!"

I look over at Kate. "Let's go! I call first dibs!"

"No way!" She whine.

"Bet."

We got up and ran to the door as fast as we could. Kate, of course, played dirty and trip me half way so she got to the table first. I could of seriously took her down for that, but I decided to let it go and I allowed her this one freebie.
