Time travel is a paradox in itself. There are many different ways it could work, and many different things it could do.
Imagine there's a burger. The Ultimate burger. It's created in 1872 by a guy named Jacob. It was the greatest of it's time, and Jacob became famous almost overnight. It was so mouth-watering expertly crafted that it spread across the world as a staple of culture. Say Jacob passed on the secret recipe to his children before he dies so that his creation will live on. They pass it their children, who pass it to theirs, and the recipe is safely guarded until the year 2018.
That's when a man breaks into one of Jacob's successors, and steals the recipe. He's not just any man though, he's a time traveler.
This certain time traveler goes back in time to 1872, where he gives it to Jacob. Jacob, realizing the amazing opportunity in front of him takes the recipe and sells it off as his own.
Which starts the chain of events all over again.
No one knows what happened to the time traveler, but the true question is...
