So I found myself here, sat in art class unconciously traicing the symbol that'd latched itself onto my paper, listening to the hushed whispers and cruel sniggers of the people around me and running thorugh the list, which I'd narrowed down over the years, of why this day would be so special. The only thing I hadn't figured out was whether or not I should be scared.

I'd become so used to people talking around me that I didn't notice when the murmers increased. I didn't notice when they changed from cruel to intruiged or even to excited. I barely even noticed it when they all sucked in a breath in anticipation. It wasn't until a figure appeared in front of me and the whole room fell silent that I realised something must have happened.

I looked up to find a boy lowering himself down into the chair opposite me. Almost instanlty I knew why everyone was so shocked, he was gorgeous and I don't just mean your typical schoolboy gorgeous, I mean the kind of bad boy gorgeous you read about in a book and the dream of for weeks after, the one you never expect to meet in real life. Leather jacket, place skin, jet black hair and emerald green eyes, there was something mysterious about him that held my gaze. I looked him up and down, savouring in every inch of him that I could see. All the girls sucked in a shocked breath as he sat down across from me, I stifled back a laugh. I could almost hear what they were thinking! Well, that and the symbols around them told me!

OH MY. Why her? She's a freak.

Maybe we should save him, can't have him getting mixed up with the witch - he's too damn hot to be turned into a frog!

Wow, yes please. Don't mind if I do.

I wondered how embarressed they'd be if knew I could read what they were thinking. God, it wasn't like I didn't agree with them though - he was stunning! Okay, so I know I dind't know the guy, but that didn't mean I wasn't allowed to stare right? Everybody else was.

Luckily he wasn't paying much attention to me so he hadn't noticed the staring. I followed his eyes and realised that whilst he wasn't staring at me, he was staring at my drawing, interest pulling up his eyebrows. The symbol shivered off my page, shying away from his eyes, leaving only the outline I'd drawn. I put my hand over the symbol and pulled it towards me slowly, only too aware that they boy was now watching me instead.

"What does it mean?" His husky voice broke the silence in the room and I looked up into his eyes, staring penetratingly back at mine. Was this really happening? Was this tottaly hot guy really sat here talking to me - the wierd scary witchy girl - when there were tonnes of pretty girls sat around me who definately wanted nothing to than to give him their whole attention - and maybe more.

"I don't know." I admitted without thinking about it, suddenly rememebering that he'd asked me a question. He seemed to consider this for a minute, probably wondering why someone would draw something they knew nothing about or maybe telling himself to stay away from the strange girl in the future, but then he shrugged and held out his hand. I looked at it, trying to decide if this was supposed to be a joke. Which one of the girls had set him up to this?

I searched around him, flicking through the symbols in the room to find his. But I found nothing. All that was there were the typical hate thoughts directed at me and the lust filled desires thrusted towards this gorgeous man sat in front of me.

"I'm Alex." He stated, reaching his hand closer to mine. I took it, stifling a gasp as his hand touched mine.

"Katelyn." His eyes sparkled - shining emeralds.

Later I'd look back on this moment as the one that changed my life forever.
