Alex' point of view.
The phone in my pocket rang and it chilled me to the bone. I reached into my pocket and grabbed it out. I didn't want to have this conversation, I didn't want to say these words again. I'd failed so many times before, and somehow each time it got worse. I couldn't let it happen again. Especially not to this girl, she seemed different, better, more special somehow. I couldn't let him win. I held the phone to my ear and spoke the words that haunted me.
She's gone, he took her.
I waited for the familiar response that always came. And this time it struck even harder.
What? Alex, this can't happen again. You need to find her. She's our last hope, she's the last true phophetess, if he kills her it's over. We'll never win.
I knew all this already, it had been in the brief he'd given me thismorning, the reasons why it was so important that I didn't fail today. But I had anyway.
I know.
Maybe it wasn't me that should be doing this. I'd failed too many times before and I couldn't afford to do it again. Not even because it would be the end, but because every time I failed it tore me apart and I knew that if I failed this time, it would be the last time I'd fail. I wouldn't be able to bear being torn apart anymore, I only had one part left. As usal my boss knew exactly what I was thinking.
It has to be you. Save her. No one else can.
Ah yes, the finality. The reason why I couldn't give up. I was the only one strong enough to fight him, no one else stood a chance. But after all that had been broken inside me, was there enough left within me to fight him, to to fight against them. To fight for her.
Yes.
For her. There had to be.
A/N There we have it! Sorry to leave it on a cliffhanger but I couldn't help it! Let me know what you think! :D <3
